Introduction to AP Biology

Started

Every week, we will cover two of the eight units from AP Biology to help students prepare for the course ahead of time if they are taking it this upcoming school year or are simply interested in taking a deeper dive into biology. AP Biology is certainly not easy, as I know from experience. However, reviewing all the material before beginning the course will help learners excel in their class and on the AP exam!

AP Biology

8th session

I plan to cover basic high school biology concepts and provide a framework for success in a classroom setting. Learners should expect to be asked questions and be prepared with the topics to get the most understanding out of the series. This course is not an in-depth explanation of biology, but rather a review session of all the units in the AP course.

🧬HEADSTART TO BIOLOGY SUMMER CAMP🧬bridging the gap from GCSE to AS level

Starts

Hi, in this series for the second year in a row, I'll be bridging the gap from GCSE to AS-level Biology, providing a comprehensive beginner introduction to the key topics. I will be using the WJEC AS-level syllabus as a guide, but the information should still be relevant to every syllabus. The goal of this series is to help you transition smoothly and get a head start on your AS-level studies during the summer break. ----------------------------------------------------- 🤔What we will cover: 1.) ⚛ Chemical Elements and Biological Compounds: Joining of chemical elements to form biological compounds; understanding the structure and properties of biological compounds. 2.) 🦠 Cell Structure and Organization: Exploring cell components and their functions; understanding the organization of cells into tissues and organs. 3.) 🚚Cell Membranes and Transport: Examining the structure and function of cell membranes; learning about transport mechanisms across cell membranes. 4.) 🗝🔒 Enzymes and Biological Reactions: Understanding the regulation of biological reactions by enzymes; exploring enzyme structure and function. We'll be doing a lot of quizzes so make sure you have a blooket account ready! Depending on how fast we progress we may also cover - 5.)🧬 Nucleic Acids and their Functions: Examining the structure and types of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA); understanding the functions of nucleic acids in genetic information storage and protein synthesis. 6.) 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Genetic Information and Inheritance: Exploring the copying and transmission of genetic information to daughter cells; understanding the evolutionary history and relatedness of organisms. 7.) 🫁Adaptations for Gas Exchange: Studying adaptations for efficient gas exchange in organisms; understanding the structure and function of respiratory systems. 8.) 🫀 Adaptations for Transport: Exploring adaptations for effective substance transport in organisms; understanding the structure and function of circulatory systems. 9.) 🍎 Adaptations for Nutrition: Examining adaptations for obtaining and processing nutrients; learning about the structure and functions of digestive systems. ----------------------------------------------------- 👥 Who is this series intended for?: This series is intended for students who have just completed their GCSEs (around ages 15-16) and are preparing to start AS-level Biology. It will serve as a refresher as well as provide a solid foundation for your upcoming studies.

Exploring Our Microbiological World

4th session

Hi there! This series is going to be all about one of my favorite topics (and my soon-to-be major), microbiology! Each session, we'll be doing a deep dive into a new microorganism and it's biology: what kind of microorganism it is, where it exists, its role in its habitat, and even how it interacts with us. These are just meant to be fun, exploratory sessions, not a series on general microbiology, so no past knowledge is really needed. I can answer any general biology questions if they come up (in context with the microorganism, of course), but the main focus will be on whatever microscopic creature we're exploring during a given session! If you like microbiology, learning about new species, or just learning about the things we don't get to see much in our everyday lives, then this series is for you! Hope to see you there!

The Complete AP Biology Course: A Pathway to Top Scores

2nd session

Welcome to the ultimate AP Biology tutoring series designed for students aiming for top scores. This series begins halfway through summer and continues into the school-year, covering the entire course material. This is a long-term tutoring series for students who really want to understand the material. With three sessions per week during summer and two sessions per week during the school year, this series will ensure that you stay ahead of the curve! A little bit about me: I got a 5 in the most recent AP biology exam – and throughout the course, I made use of MANY resources to ensure I understand and engage with the material. If you are a regular student in this course, you will get access to the resources that I used, including my summary notes for revision. Specifics: - We'll cover between 2-3 topics per session, and depending on the unit, it will take about 4-7 sessions per unit. This involves practice questions. - For now, the course timings are: 5:30 pm CST on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. However, starting August 15th (which is when school starts for me), the classes will be held later (likely at 8pm CST). If you are unable to do the later timings, please do not enroll in the series. If you have any questions about the course or about AP Biology, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Campbell Biology Course: Useful for AP Bio, IB Bio, and Olympiads

27th session

The IBO Chairman hailed Campbell's biology as the "Bible" of biology. It is a fascinating book. If you love Biology, I am sure that you will enjoy it! Campbell Biology consists of 8 UNITS and 56 Chapters. I will try to go over 1-2 chapters per week based on the potential of the class. If I see that the class needs more time to Understand the topics, I will lower the speed making it 1 chapter per 2 weeks. Some chapters will be skipped and I will ask the students to study them independently. Hope to see you! Kind Regards, Mohammadamin Y + Jack R Please let us know in the group chat if you don’t understand something or missed a session, we would be happy to schedule extra sessions for you!
