About

Join this interactive session led by a medical doctor, where we'll learn the complex processes of glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain (ETC) step by step. We'll explore each stage's key enzymes, regulation points, and energy yield, and connect them to real-life physiology and medicine. Expect visuals, analogies, and live Q&A throughout. This session is perfect for high school, AP Biology, and early college students aiming to deeply understand cellular respiration.

Sat 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM UTCAug 9, 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM UTC

Let’s explore how pyruvate is converted into acetyl-CoA and enters the citric acid cycle (Krebs cycle).

What We’ll cover ?

1) The 8 steps of the Krebs cycle with giving more importance to Pyruvate dehydrogenase enzyme and key enzymes NADH/FADH₂ yield

2) how this connects to the ETC Regulation by calcium and energy status of the cell

3) Medical relevance (e.g., thiamine deficiency, mitochondrial disorders)

4) A mnemonic to remember steps of Krebs cycle

This session will focus on visual learning and interactive Q&A with live sketching of the cycle.

Mon 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM UTCAug 11, 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM UTC

In our final and most crucial session, we’ll learn how the electron transport chain uses the energy from NADH and FADH₂ to generate ATP.

What You’ll learn ?

1) Complex I to IV
2) ATP synthase
3) proton gradien
4) Oxygen’s role and what happens in hypoxia
5) Uncouplers, inhibitors (e.g., cyanide) and physiological uncouplers
