Word of the Day!

    48th session

New learners are always welcome!! We're entering a new season and kicking off a new chapter of words. In this series, there are two sessions per day, twice a week for a whole year! How it works: We go over the pronunciation, definition, synonyms and antonyms, origin (and maybe some fun facts), and how to use the word in a sentence. There is always a super fun Kahoot about the word. Then we have Idiom of the Day, where we introduce a new idiom, its meaning, and how it's used in a sentence. Then, at the end, we have two quotes of the day! They may be inspirational, or funny, or both! I hope to see you there! These sessions are perfect for expanding your vocabulary. Changes from the original series: - Sessions will be hosted every other day. - Learners who misbehave in any way that slightly defers the Schoolhouse policy will be removed. - Our original host will not be involved in this series.

Addressing Racism Dialogue

    Ended Sat, Feb 22, 2025

In this session, we'll be exploring the topic, Addressing Racism. We will use this [discussion guide](https://drive.google.com/file/d/16-HepHFS2jr7fF-Xo4eqnZusO0TDA-gJ/view?usp=sharing). We'll explore questions like: What is the most effective way to combat racism in society? What should the role of educating people about bias and historical injustice be? What about investing in common bonds to make race less of a major factor in daily interactions? Welcome to [Dialogues](https://schoolhouse.world/dialogues)! Here’s some helpful information to help you prepare for your session: 📌 Session introduction: At the start of the session, the event host will provide some introductory remarks about how the session will work and tips for discussion. 🧩 Discussion partner matching: All participants will be matched with a conversation partner to discuss with. If there are uneven numbers, you may have two conversation partners. 🤝 Breakout discussions: After the session introduction, everyone will switch to their breakout discussion. Your discussion will be unmoderated, so you can start when your partner arrives in the new Zoom link. 🗺️ Discussion Guide: You will have a topic-specific discussion guide for the session to help guide conversation. ⏰ Session length: The breakout discussions are scheduled for 45 minutes but you can discuss as long as you want! ✅ Stay on topic: Please make sure to stay on topic. If you and your partner run out of things to discuss, it’s okay to end the discussion early. You will not be returning to the main group when your conversation is over. 🤔 Make the discussion your own: You probably won’t have time to answer all the guide questions so pick and choose! Feel free to also bring in your own questions and ideas outside of the guide. 📝 Survey: A mandatory survey will appear at the end of your session to fill out. This must be filled out for you to get credit for the session in your Dialogues portfolio. 🤸‍♂️ Have fun: There is no preparation needed for this event. These conversations are meant to be casual, in addition to being meaningful. We hope you enjoy it!

✨study group✨

    Ended Sat, May 10, 2025

Hey everyone! ❤ Let's study together and get all the work we have completed. I am starting this series because I work much much better with other people and feel more motivated when I know others are working along with me 😂 ✨We will be using the pomodoro technique using timers -- I can get some music in the background as well! ✨This is the perfect space for you to be held accountable and to hold others accountable so all of us can successfully get the things we've been procrastinating completed. ✨I will be adding more sessions to the series as we go along and I will be hosting pretty long sessions so that we can continue with the "flow". ✨Turning on videos is optional but highly recommended. ✨If you would like to co-host, let me know, and we can set up sessions with more timings!
