About

New learners are always welcome!! We're entering a new season and kicking off a new chapter of words.

In this series, there are two sessions per day, twice a week for a whole year!

How it works:
We go over the pronunciation, definition, synonyms and antonyms, origin (and maybe some fun facts), and how to use the word in a sentence.
There is always a super fun Kahoot about the word.

Then we have Idiom of the Day, where we introduce a new idiom, its meaning, and how it's used in a sentence.

Then, at the end, we have two quotes of the day! They may be inspirational, or funny, or both!

I hope to see you there! These sessions are perfect for expanding your vocabulary.

Changes from the original series:
  • Sessions will be hosted every other day.
  • Learners who misbehave in any way that slightly defers the Schoolhouse policy will be removed.
  • Our original host will not be involved in this series.

Hello everyone, Welcome to my profile! My name is Aayan and I'm currently homeschooling. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building their confidence. I work closely with each student to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, and tailor my teaching approach to meet their individual needs and learning style. Moreover, I believe every person has the potential to succeed within them, they just need some guidance, motivation, and someone who believes in them. My ultimate goal is to help them unleash their potential by guiding them, supporting them in every path of their journey, and motivating them to perform better. I aim to help students not only understand the material but also develop critical thinking skills and a love for learning. Whether you need help with homework, test preparation, or enhancing your overall understanding of the subject, I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your academic goals! Let's do it together!

Hello there! I’m a high school graduate currently on a gap year, exploring new passions and figuring out my next steps. I love crafting, reading, and diving into a variety of interests. When I’m not crafting or reading, you can probably catch me just relaxing and enjoying the little things in life. 📚🎨🌟

Bonjour! 👋 🇫🇷 My name is Sreshta, and I am a high school freshman in Michigan(Go Wolverines💛💙) I plan on using SHW to tutor others and be tutored (lol). I currently tutor in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, R/W Subworld and Enrichment. I plan on tutoring Geometry and Algebra 2 in the future :)! Let's see if we have the same interests: - Karate 🥋: I have been doing it since a very young age and almost at black belt :) - Swimming 🏊‍♀️: I swim for my school team and love all the stokes except breaststroke(It's so annoying 😭😭) - Tennis 🎾: I've picked up this sport recently and I love it!! - Badminton 🏸: I've playing this sport the longest and it's so much fun 😁😁😁 - Books 📚: I LOVE EVERY SINGLE FICTION BOOK EVER!!! From romanticies(romance + fantasy) to dystopian to historical fiction to horror and everything in between!!! - Art🎨: I love art, it's so much fun and it's also relaxing. I love painting the most because it's fun to bring sketches to life!! - Math ♾️: Idk, I used to HATE math but then Algebra rolled around and now I ♥ math. - Neurology🧠: I've always been fascinated by the brain and how it works. Its always been my interest and hopefully my career. Fingers crossed🤞🤞 - Astronomy 🔭: Anytime that I am bored, I can always count on exoplanets and comets and black holes and neuron stars and more 😁 Despite my interests, I'm a big extrovert and would prefer to spend my days with my family 👪 and friends 🫂 :))). Hello everyone, my name is Joseph. I am a homeschooled high school junior from China yet taking an American program. I am the Founder and Moderator of the Reading and Writing Subworld. On Schoolhouse, I like to tutor English literature, ancient history&culture/mythology, Chinese, and community events. My sessions are full of joy and laughter because I like to insert games into my session and I enjoy chatting with my learners about anything. My best subjects in school are history, geography, and English, but please do not ask me to tutor you in STEM, that is my weak spot. I played the instrument Hulusi (gourd flute) a traditional Chinese instrument and reached the top level in 2022; I also have fundamental knowledge of piano and the Chinese bamboo flute. I also make a lot of art with ink pen and gouache. I have been attempting digital art recently and really enjoyed it! In my free time, I also play video games; I am a huge Honor of Kings fan :) I am a very active tutor on Schoolhouse and I love to make friends! Feel free to reach out with anything you might need help with and I am willing to lend a hand if it is within my power.

Hey guys! I’m Mattis, a homeschooled 8th grader currently living in Shenzhen, China! Since I learn mostly through khan academy videos and exercises, I am really thankful to Sal Khan for making this possible. I love writing fiction novels (two of them, Ebse Nexus and Bombardment B, are nearly done), which are typically a blend of sci-fi and fantasy. I used to be very active on Khan Academy (before I got muted for some reason) and I decided to come here to help people with R&W on its subworld. I’m a total extrovert and can always be found attending and hosting sessions and answering people’s questions!! Some things I like to brag about on SHW: —Having hosted 300 sessions —Having reached 1000 helpful and super helpful ratings —Having attended 200 sessions —Having won the Historia event on schoolhouse. —Having met Sal Khan. Some fun facts about me: I became a tutor on October 14, 2024 at 7:10-7:11 pm GMT+8. I reached Bronze Level (500 SP) at 10:49 pm GMT+8, November 8. I became a tutor in Enrichment Subworld on November 12, at 5:14 am. I reached Silver Level (1000 SP) at 8:12 pm GMT+8, November 30 (last day of November yippee) I reached Gold Level (2500 SP) at roughly 11:06 PM GMT+8, Jan 10, 2025 (got a shoutout at 5:24 am). I’m a big fan of Duolingo I have a 1700+ day streak (over 4 years now) and 1.5 million XP. My MBTI Personality Type is ENFP-A, Campaigner. My Hogwarts House is Gryffindor. I know a lot of people really want to be Gryffindor, but I actually prefer Slytherin. My favorite games are: Minecraft, Krunker.io (#1 class: Triggerman), War of Sticks, Gimkit (recently became a huge fan), and Chess (on chess.com). My favorite books: Harry Potter, LOTR, and Percy Jackson. I’m hosting an ongoing session on the latter. My favorite movies are: Inside Out, Incredibles, Star Wars My favorite songs are: Unstoppable, Chandelier, When We Were Young, Hello My favorite colors: Purple, Indigo, Turquoise, Black. I hate orange. As for hobbies, I have a ton of them: Writing fiction, chess, speed typing (avg. speed roughly 80-90 wpm, record 117 wpm), drawing my characters, and reading books. I absolutely adore drawing and try to make at least three a day. Right now I’m learning German, Mandarin Chinese (both on Duolingo), and conlangs, mostly Ebsian, a language I created for my stories.
