I'm an adult learner who has returned to college to complete a bachelors degree in mathematics with a stem teaching minor. My plan is to become a high school math teacher. Gaining experience as a tutor is the next step towards my being successful as a teacher of mathematics.
This will be a second career for me. I was a senior engineering technician who didn't have a degree but did have a lot of college credits. After a layoff I came to the conclusion that I needed a degree to be competitive in the job market but also after some soul searching I found that I didn't have a passion to pursue an electrical engineering degree any longer. What I did have was a passion for math, a love of helping people, and a desire to explain things so this was a natural step to take.
