Upcoming Sessions

The Bill of Rights (again)

    9th session

Welcome to the Bill of Rights! 📜We'll be learning about the first 10 Amendments to the US Constitution, as well as an extra amendment that greatly increased their power (the 14th Amendment). The very first session will be an introduction to the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and 14th Amendment. We'll also cover some skills law students use to understand court cases.📓 After that, each session will cover an amendment or two, go over the historical issues the Framers were responding to, understand modern application and limitations, and go over a few relevant Supreme Court cases. 🏛️ Please be ready to work with other students to analyze cases. We'll also play a fun quiz game at the end of each session to make sure you get everything down!

This session required excellent coordination and thorough preparation, given that several core members of the MUN organizing team participated. You all demonstrated both qualities impressively—the matching Zoom backgrounds were a nice touch. The session slides were well-organized with a cohesive green design and clear visual flow. The main area for improvement would be increasing the information density on each slide so you could explain the material directly rather than reading from them. Overall, wonderful preparation for this session! You clearly understand the Model UN format thoroughly. Your explanations of its intricacies were clear and extensive. As the peer-reviewer, I felt my own understanding improved even watching at 2x speed; learners presumably found their grasp solidified by your teaching. I appreciated how you distributed speaking responsibilities—it gave everyone a chance to speak and made everyone an equally valuable member. All five tutors—Dylan, Hafsah, Sarah, Amrita, and Claire—delivered clear explanations. The Coda document was a powerful tool and the most visible example of your preparation. Distilling the entire MUN format into one resource is monumental work that likely helped learners deeply. I also appreciated Amrita explaining in the chat that she had to leave—it showed positive professionalism.

Thank you for being patient to me as a first-time participant in MUN & being so responsive to chat/questions!

The enthusiasm of the tutors regarding the Model UN emanated into the figurative atmosphere of the Zoom session, and seemed to overall make the learners feel more comfortable. The time in the beginning of the session (where you all opened with remarks) was a nice touch, and essentially made sure that you didn't come off as terrifying robotic volunteers. Further, you all tried to make the question space as welcoming to the prospective MUN delegates as possible, especially in asking how to pronounce names when you were unsure and accepting every question given to you. Asking learners to turn on their camera if possible was also another step towards creating an excellent environment in this session. It would have been a nice touch to welcome learners by name in the chat when they joined; however, as this was a large-scale session, it's understandable that this might have been difficult.

I always viewed MUN as intimidating and even doubted that I'm not suited for this — but the opening ceremony and seeing many people from around the world talk and do their thing, my fear for it diminished. I like how it has a strong sense of community and how people interact with each other. Thank you, and I'll probably join more MUN next time! This is fun!
