Schoolhouse MUN 2025 - WHO Committee

    Ended Sun, Aug 17, 2025

Welcome to the World Health Organization committee sessions of the Schoolhouse Model United Nations 2025! Schoolhouse MUN is an online Model United Nations event organized by a team of volunteers from schoolhouse.world. Delegates will have the opportunity to represent different countries in four distinct committees of the United Nations. This experience will enhance their understanding of current world issues and improve their public speaking, collaboration, and leadership skills. Agenda: Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Global Health Developing comprehensive international strategies to prevent the evolution of antimicrobial resistance, track resistant pathogens, respond to outbreaks, and advance novel treatments. Chairs: Hafsah M and Claire A Overview of the Committee’s Agenda: Antimicrobial treatments such as antibiotics have produced almost miraculous results in global health, effectively treating diseases that were once death sentences. However, overuse in humans and animals and underdosing can lead to antimicrobial resistance. Now a common occurrence worldwide, the curse of antimicrobial resistance is threatening to end the success of these wonder-drugs. Our committee will focus on a coordinated global response to antimicrobial resistance. Our agenda will include preventing, tracking, and containing antimicrobial resistance and developing alternatives to standard antimicrobial treatments. International cooperation is vital to address this widespread and mobile threat. Delegates, your responsibility is to immerse yourself in the topic of antimicrobial resistance and solutions to promote health and prevent outbreaks in the face of it. What steps must the WHO take, what roles do different nations and organizations have to play, and how can we craft an adaptable and resilient response? Are you prepared to take on the superbugs? Please make sure to also register for the main series: [https://schoolhouse.world/series/55560](https://schoolhouse.world/series/55560) Please note that each delegate must attend a minimum of three committee sessions to be eligible for a participation certificate. You are also welcome to join as an audience member!
