About

The purpose of this series is for me, as a 5 scorer on the AP exam, to help you better understand all the science knowledge you need to know for success in the AP Biology class and exam - regardless of where you are currently in your preparation! Just starting to prepare for taking AP Biology next year? Great! Come join me as we delve into topic-by-topic sessions on all of the biology (and, sometimes, chemistry + math) skills, tips, and tricks you need to achieve your desired score. Already learned some AP Biology content and/or feel like you'd benefit from some guidance during your current preparation? Well, you've come to the right place. With many resources on hand (including notes and practice question sources), I'll do my best to help guide you through this journey. No prior knowledge of high-school-level biology is required - it's completely open to anyone from beginners to those who just want to refresh/recap their skills. And yes, if all you need is some more resources to get you going in the right direction, this is the right place for you as well! Full Disclosure: This will be my second Schoolhouse series. However, judging from my success with 75+ enrollment and regular attendance in my previous series on SAT Math, I'd say I'm pretty decently equipped to teach large groups of students in an efficient, friendly, and engaging manner. At the very least, I'll do my best to cater to all your AP Biology specific needs! Biology Qualifications: - Recently Took AP Biology - A+ In Class + Scored A 5 In AP Exam - A*/9 In Edexcel IGCSE Biology - Gold Award In British Biology Challenge (2021) - Gold Award In British Intermediate Biology Olympiad (2022)

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please try to avoid missing two or more sessions in a row. If you have a valid reason for not meeting this attendance requirement, message me and we can go over the content covered. An invalid reason for no attendance, however, will sadly lead to removal from the series.

P.S. Trust me - I don't want to remove anyone from this series! I want to help y'all learn and get better, so just do your best to show up.

About the Tutor

High school senior in Texas (from India, grew up in Singapore) with a deep passion for math, computer science, and their relations with other STEM fields. Outside of school, I enjoy pursuing interdisciplinary research projects, participating in FIRST robotics competitions, debating in the World Schools format, and programming using a variety of languages (Python, C++, and JavaScript being my favorites). Having recently worked as a STEM-oriented volunteer tutor for various organizations in Singapore and India, I'm excited to join Schoolhouse and continue this journey of giving back to the community. Also a fan of '80s-'00s pop, rock, rap, and Bollywood music!

Session 1

Orientation

In this session, we'll be introducing ourselves and going over the structure of the course. This includes dates, times, etc. of when I'll host Office Hours/Q&A sessions, and other administrative details. This session will be half the length of a usual one (i.e. 30 mins vs 1-hour content session), and we may end early if necessary. Quick note: I'll assign homework after we cover each AP Biology topic area as per the College Board syllabus. Most topics will take 2-3 sessions to cover all content, whilst some will only take one (just something to keep in mind.) This is, of course, unless we as a group feel that the homework is unnecessary/doesn't help y'all improve. Also, a quick note on meetings where I don't cover new content: Office Hours sessions will either function as a time for you to work on these questions and ask along the way, or catch up if you missed the previous content session.

Session 2

Other Topics

In this session, we'll go over the first part of the biological principles in "Unit 1: Chemistry of Life" (which makes up 8-11% of the test as per College Board, hence splitting it across two sessions). This will mainly be a theory lesson with some worked-out AP Biology questions along the way.

Session 3

Other Topics

In this session, we'll go over the second part of the biological principles in "Unit 1: Chemistry of Life" (which makes up 8-11% of the test as per College Board, hence splitting it across two sessions). This will be part theory lesson with some worked-out AP Biology questions alongside getting y'all to do some real AP Biology past paper questions on the topic. Of course, these will be hard and may test knowledge from other areas, so don't get intimidated/scared if you're struggling with them! I promise I'll walk y'all through them.
