Series Details

About

This course is for anyone but will cater to students who have little to no knowledge of the German language. Each week or every other week, depending on your grasp of the materials, we will learn a new chapter in the Introductory German curriculum. We will practice speaking, writing, reading, and grammar. In addition to language, we will also learn about German culture and history.

Tutor Qualifications

I have taken German since 6th grade, I am now going into my second year of university studies. I speak many more languages including German and English. I absolutely love learning and speaking new languages.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

I would recommend coming to all sessions because they will build on top of each other. If you cannot make it, please let me know.

About the Tutor

I am an undergraduate double majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and Zoology. I am also minoring in Business. I speak 3 languages which are English, German, and Turkish. As a tutor, I am very passionate about helping students reach their full potential in school. I tutor biology, chemistry, writing, German, Turkish, and a variety of AP classes to help students prep for their exams. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, playing D&D, and watching movies/TV shows.

Orientation

Welkommen! This will be a short first session where we will introduce ourselves and learn the syllabus and expectations for this series. We will also learn how to make a traditional German cookie which is called Springerle.

Other Topics

This will be our first session where we will learn the German alphabet and how to introduce ourselves. We will start speaking German on the very first day! There will be more sessions to come and dates and times may change as we get closer to the start of fall term.

Review

Review the alphabet. This session is for anyone who missed Monday's session and needs to learn the alphabet. This session is also a great review for anyone who wants to practice pronunciation.

Other Topics

We will be reviewing the German Alphabet along with working on our first “Rollenspiel”. We will also introduce noun gender during this session.

Review

We will review noun gender. This review session is catered to those who missed the 8/19/22 session.

Other Topics

We will review German noun gender and learn adjectives to describe people, places, etc. We will also officially learn our first verb "sein" which means "to be".

We will learn the nominative case. We will learn about days of the week, months of the year, and seasons plus weather.

We will learn sentence structure, German conjugation, and classroom vocabulary.
