About

Hi! I am a high schooler based in Texas. I love math and science, both competitive and academic.

I've participated in math and science competitions, including competitions like AMC, AIME, USNCO, HMMT, Science Bowl, F=ma, UIL, and TMSCA. These competitions have been a testament to my experience and joy for math and science.

My favorite science subject is chemistry, and my favorite math subject is number theory. Additionally, I also enjoy Tetr.io, the piano, the viola, tennis, Rubik's cubes, chess, and reading Dune! I'm excited to both learn and teach math and science here at Schoolhouse.

Yes, there is clear evidence that learners made progress during this session. For example, they successfully calculated molar masses, identified hybridization states, and determined electron configurations with your guidance. Their responses in the chat (e.g., correctly identifying SP² hybridization or explaining why Fe³⁺ has a smaller radius than Fe²⁺) indicate that they understood the material better as the session progressed.

You created a supportive learning environment by encouraging participation and reassuring learners that making mistakes is part of the learning process. Your patient tone and willingness to revisit challenging concepts helped foster confidence among participants. For example, when discussing Coulomb’s law or photoelectron spectroscopy, you broke down the material into manageable steps without rushing through it. Additionally, your use of relatable analogies (e.g., comparing intermolecular forces to magnets) made abstract concepts more accessible. To further build confidence, consider praising specific aspects of learners’ thought processes or answers to reinforce their progress.

You demonstrated a strong understanding of AP Chemistry concepts, particularly in stoichiometry, electron configurations, and intermolecular forces. Your explanations were clear and methodical, helping learners navigate challenging topics like molar mass calculations, hybridization, and Coulomb’s law. For instance, your step-by-step explanation of how to calculate the molar mass of Na₂S₂O₃ and convert moles to grams was thorough and easy to follow. Additionally, your breakdown of electron configurations for Fe²⁺ and Ti²⁺ ions showcased your ability to simplify complex ideas while reinforcing key principles. To further enhance your teaching, consider summarizing key takeaways after each problem to reinforce learning.

Lishan, you gave thorough and well-developed explanations to the problems that you went over. You explained the theories behind bonding very well, making it easy to understand for learners. I appreciate the step-by-step method that you employ, making sure not to gloss over steps that learners may miss. You were very clear and conveyed a deep understanding of the material. Nice job!
