What is ATAR English? (Not that we will be doing this)
ATAR English Exam is all free response. (No MCQs) The exam is 3 hours split into three sections and no breaks!!! In this 3 hours we have:
- Comprehension: Read 2 text answer and answer 2 fixed questions. Our response have to be 1-2 paragraphs (Basically a mini essay per question)
- Responding: Pick a question, answer the question through an essay abt a text we have studied (So anaytical essay) to discuss voice, perspective, ideology etc ....you get the point. Also we have to remember our quotes so we study multiple to pick the right one for the question as we don't know them. TEXT can be books, films, short story, documentry etc...
- Composing: Pick a prompt then write a creative peace of writing. So we can pick imaginative, interpretive or persuasive. If you don't know what that means it means short story, blogs, speeches, persuasive letters, basically anything....that includes your argumentative essay. (But it has to answer the prompt and question)
This is all done in 3 hours. We write all that plus plan our answers in that time frame to top notch quality or else...its a umm fail. You can finish the exam but if it has no quality or address controversial topics and issues we fail.
