Vocabulary!

    7th session

Every week, we will go over not commonly used words that often appear in classical books or potentially in the SAT. In every session, we will have learned at least a few new words and review words previously learned. Some examples of words that you will learn are: abysmal, counteract, eloquent, repudiate, and so many more! Come join us to learn their meanings and to know how to use them in sentences!

Word of the Day for 365 Days!

    21st session

New learners are always welcome!! In this series, there is one session every other single day for a whole year! How it works: We go over the pronunciation, definition, synonyms and antonyms, origin, (and maybe some fun facts), and how to use the word in a sentence. There is always a super fun Kahoot about the word. Then we have idiom of the day where we introduce a new idiom, its meaning, and how it's used in a sentence. Then, at the end, we have two quotes of the day! They may be inspirational, or funny, or both! I hope to see you there! These sessions are perfect for expanding your vocabulary. Changes from the original series: - Sessions will be hosted every other day. - Learners who misbehave in any way that slightly defers the Schoolhouse policy will be removed. - Our original host will not be involved in this series.

Pomodoro Study Sessions

    138th session

⭐💙Hey guys! I will be using the Pomodoro method in hopes of reducing procrastination while doing work. I will mostly (not sure yet) host sessions after 4PM EST in week days because that is when I start studying individually. 💙⭐ - I sometimes host sessions on weekends after 1PM EST when I am available. I'll make the series as long as possible! I make the sessions longer because i get too attached to what I am doing at a given time👀 ... My goal for this series is to help others and myself work productively and to reduce procrastination with the Pomodoro timer 💙! 🏖️We will continue to host sessions during the summer.🏖️ Even though you may no longer have assignments and homework, there are plenty of other things you could use these sessions for. For example, you could use these sessions to dedicate a set time to work on and eventually complete a summer goal, such as summer reading or completing a course on Khan Academy. You could also use these sessions to encourage you to set a time to practice and improve your amazing skills, such as coding, art, writing, music, and language learning. You could even use this time to motivate yourself to practice for upcoming exams like the SAT or study for upcoming classes. The possibilities are seemingly endless! :) This series is meant to help with motivation and procrastination, NOT homework. 📄🫂📄 This is NOT meant to be a homework help tutoring session where we help each other with work. This is simply meant to be a helpful and motivating studying environment/group where everyone focuses on their own individual work. We try to be interactive but not too interactive because we don't want to be disruptive in your individual work. If you have a question though or want some suggestions with your work we can try to help. :) We are not always qualified to help you with your homework as we don't have certifications in every subject. 🪙📖🪙 If you want individual help with work, I recommend going to the Subworld based on the subject you are working on and seeing if they have an open homework help session as they would be most qualified to help you. 📝🕵️📝 Note: This is not meant to be an interactive open tutoring for help on completing assignments (though we will try to help if you need it), therefore it is not going to seem that interactive. The whole point is to work in a motivating environment with other learners to help complete assignments. It will not seem to be that interactive as we don't want to ask a bunch of questions which can potentially bother our learners. Although you will be working and doing other things mostly on your own, this is meant to be a helpful and motivating environment for doing such. This is somewhat similar to setting up a timer at home but with this one can not only get extra minutes but also you can be in a more helpful, encouraging, and motivating environment with other learners that will most likely be a lot more effective with getting your work done. This can be very helpful with procrastination and setting times to get your work done with us. Not everyone is able to have or join a study group and this is especially great for them. :) Co-hosts: - Hannah_-_03/21/2024. - Aayan _-_05/01/2024. - Aneesh _-_05/02/2024. - Shibu _-_05/08/2024. - Alina _-_05/18/2024. - Rathna _-_05/21/2024. - Kavyash_-_05/25/2024. - Harry _-_05/31/2024. - Aditya _-_ 06/26/2024. - Jai_-_07/27/2024. - Eve_-_07/30/2024.

24-Hour Study Session: Breaking the SHW Record!

    Ended Sun, Jul 28, 2024

This is a series consisting of 8 back-to-back 3-hour sessions to make for a "mega-session" lasting for a total of 24 hours. 🎉 You are not required to join all eight sessions. Come and join us for the greatest, longest, most exciting study session EVER on Schoolhouse! We aim to shatter the record for the longest study session ever hosted by participating in this 24-hour mega study session. Come grind your summer plans, whether it be: - conducting research in the most esoteric depths of mathematical analysis, - cleaning out your bedroom which you have not been able to make yourself clean for the past year, - torturing your fingers to master La Campanella on the violin, - anything in between! You do not have to stay for the entire 24 hours, as long as you are able to come. We welcome as many tutors in as many different timezones as possible to cohost the session! This record-breaking event cannot happen without a joint effort of many, many tutors. In the spirit of most study space series on Schoolhouse, we will also use the well-celebrated Pomodoro technique of 25-minute study times and 5-minute breaks. We can do this! 💪

World War II & The Cold War

We will discuss the events that took place during World War II, which will include a brief discussion on the Holocaust as well as an in-depth analysis of the buildings of the first Atomic Bomb. We'll also talk about people who had significant effects on the course of the war but aren't very well known, like Oleg Penkovsky, Harry Seidel, or Janet Chisholm. We'll also talk about the Space Race and other equally interesting and suspenseful events. We'll then end the session with a competitive game of Kahoot/Blooket. If you're interested in learning about the events that occurred between 1935 and 1991 in an interactive and interesting environment, feel free to attend!
