Reading and Writing for the October 2024 SAT

Hey everyone! I'm Ryan and I'm a senior in high school. R&W was definitely the harder section for me, so I've picked up on a lot of tips and tricks that helped me master this section.

Hi there, Ryan! Congratulations on your first session!!! 😁🎉Thanks for taking the time to answer a question in calculus! To start off, I really liked how you used super simple terminology to explain the problem. I especially liked how you explained the concept of limits: "the left side and the right side, both, approach the same value. The vertical part--they both meet to match the same y value..." You also incorporated hand gestures to enhance your explanations--awesome job!! When your student had trouble understanding, you also used the Whiteboard function to show your explanations visually! Overall, you did a wonderful job with your explanations!

Great job starting the session off with a question to check your learner's understanding (What you do know about Limits? What do you think they are?") Starting off with a definition-related question could be helpful; oftentimes, however, students are too focused on solving the problem and don't know the real definition/mechanics behind it (which is usually the case for me lol). Some other (more general) questions that you could ask in the future are: "How would you approach solving this problem?" or "What do you find challenging or easy about this particular problem?" Luckily, Elizabeth was able to share what she had been confused about a few minutes later--awesome!!! 😎 You did a wonderful job engaging your learner throughout the session! You made sure to ask her relevant questions such as " Do you know what the closed and open circles are?" and "" Asking questions not only keeps your learner on task, but it also confirms her progress! Wonderful!!! Aside from asking her questions, you also had your learner solve parts of each question using the Whiteboard function, which allows you to confirm her progress--awesome!!

You did a great job creating a comfortable learning environment, Ryan! You made sure to refer to your learner by her name, and you also engaged in friendly small-talk whenever applicable!! Your learner was comfortable enough to ask questions/share other problems that she was confused about. 😁 One additional tip that I have for you is to incorporate words of encouragement whenever possible! Simple phrases like "Keep up the good work!" and "Great job!" can go a long way! Overall, you did a wonderful job with this session! Keep up the good work, Ryan! 😎
