Beginner Modular Origami: Sonobe Unit

6 minutes
This session has ended.

Session Details

About

We will be learning how to fold a sonobe unit, which is the first origami module I learned. It is fairly simple and can be used to construct various structures, such as with 3 pieces, 6 pieces, 12 pieces, 30 pieces, and 60 pieces (270 pieces have been a challenge for me but it is possible). In this session we will be making the 12 unit module (the sonobe stellated octahedron). Please have 12 square sheets of paper ready. I recommend having 3 colors with 4 sheets of each color. I will start by teaching how to create the module, then will show how to put it together.

Tutor Qualifications

I love doing origami for fun and have been folding for a few years.
