About

I plan to go over Hiragana and Katakana in a fun and artistic way so that you can understand both the sound and the stroke order! I will also go over a little of basic kanji that are common in Japan. Come prepared to write in a new way, and as always, come prepared to learn (please bring paper and a pen or pencil so we can pratice together, and be ready to talk with everyone about the sound of the character)!

I live in Washington State (and I’m a senior in hs), which means I enjoy hiking, coffee, books, and the PNW vibes. Camping is a must, as is the nature prints I do in my free time. I love matcha and feminism, but I am NOT performative. As a final note, I love learning why things happen and how they came about, so honestly all of History is interesting to me (I may also like Calc, but am not a full STEM girly, mostly humanities).

The first session will cover the fist two columns of hiragana. We will use romanji to pronounce it and some fun photos to help us learn it. If time permits, we will go further in the alphabet and maybe learn some of the culture and history of Japan.
