We often learn to solve problems involving dynamics using F=ma (Newton's laws) but there's a different way to approach things with energy! It turns out to work even with really complicated problems. We'll go through the use of this method, look at its origins, and also some special aspects that allow for generalization.
A knowledge of calculus (derivatives and integrals) would be helpful.
