About

We'll be going thru the Khanacademy concepts on Algebra 1 and then going thru some practice problems! This won't go super into detail, but it'll be good enough to prepare you for the upcoming school year!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

About the Tutor

Hi! I'm a high schooler who is really passionate about helping others! My hobbies are baking, writing, and volunteering! I'm joining Schoolhouse because I've seen people who have struggled with school subjects, and I want to do the best I possibly can to make their learning experience as smooth and understandable as possible!

Session 1

Algebra foundations

We will be covering an overview of some fundamental ideas and tools we'll be using throughout algebra!

Jun

Session 2

Solving equations & inequalities

In this unit, we learn how to solve linear equations and inequalities that contain a single variable. For example, we'll solve equations like 2(x+3)=(4x-1)/2+7 and inequalities like 5x-2≥2(x-1)!
8
Jun

Session 3

Linear equations & graphs

In this unit, we learn about linear equations and how we can use their graphs to solve problems!
9
Jun

Session 4

Forms of linear equations

In this unit, we learn how to write linear equations in different forms to reveal different features of their relationships!
10
Jun

Session 5

Systems of equations

In this unit, we learn how to write systems of equations, solve those systems, and interpret what those solutions mean!
11
Jun

Session 6

Inequalities (systems & graphs)

In this unit, we study inequalities like x+2y>5 and graph them. This helps us see their solutions. We also explore systems of inequalities (multiple inequalities at the same time) and use them to describe real-world situations!
12
Jun

Session 7

Functions

In this unit, we learn about functions, which are mathematical entities that assign unique outputs to given inputs. We'll evaluate, graph, analyze, and create various types of functions!
13
Jun

Session 8

Sequences

In this unit, we learn about the various ways in which we can define sequences. We'll construct arithmetic and geometric sequences to describe patterns and use those sequences to solve problems!
14
Jun

Session 9

Absolute value & piecewise functions

In this unit, we learn how to solve and graph absolute value and piecewise equations!
15
Jun

Session 10

Exponents & radicals

In this unit, we review exponent rules and learn about higher-order roots like the cube root (or 3rd root). We'll learn how to calculate these roots and simplify algebraic expressions with radicals!
16
Jun

Session 11

Exponential growth & decay

In this unit, we learn how to construct, analyze, graph, and interpret basic exponential functions of the form f(x)=a⋅bˣ!

Session 12

Exponential growth & decay

Ignore the last session that was a mistake. This is the actual session for this topic! In this unit, we learn how to construct, analyze, graph, and interpret basic exponential functions of the form f(x)=a⋅bˣ!

Jun

Session 13

Quadratics: Multiplying & factoring

There are a lot of great ways to multiply and factor integers. In this unit, we'll build on those strategies to learn how to multiply and factor algebraic expressions! Since this is our last session, this will be a Camera's-On session, as a celebration for learning the basics of Algebra 1! This session will also be longer because there will be a 12 question quiz at the end of the lesson (one question from each concept) to test your understanding!

Session 14

Review

Quiz day!!! In this session, there will be a 12 question quiz (one question from each concept) to test your understanding! If there are any questions on certain questions after, we can go over them together!
