Some new and exciting updates this week!

Product Changes:

• When learners join a series, they are now asked a few questions about why they want to join, giving SHW and tutors more insights into how to best help out.
• We now display the countries that a tutor has reached on their tutor transcript. Example here. (Hover over ‘Countries Reached’.)

General Announcements:

• The Inaugural SHW Product Hackathon was a success. Projects included:

  • SMS and WhatsApp notifications (to accompany email notifications)
  • Emoji support in messaging
  • A “Stories” page where users can share testimonials
  • Gamification for tutors
  • Calendar view for browsing upcoming sessions
  • Ability for tutors to save their progress when creating a new series
  • Making links in user comments/messages clickable on the website
  • Increased the number of learner feedback comments that tutors can highlight on their profiles
  • Improved the UI of our toasts/notifications
  • SHW Mascot Contest!
  • A graph/network view where tutors can see how connected they are to other tutors
  • Improved design for applying for honorary certifications as a tutor
  • Safety proposal for preventing trolls from easily joining the platform
  • Improved the UX for users who are pending approval
  • Made our session reminder emails 1 hour instead of 2 hours before a session

• There were 423 sessions scheduled in the past week.
• There were 62,742 learning minutes last week.
• There are 19,536 total users on the platform.
