As a rule of thumb, the SAT registration dates for each test closes nearly a month before the day of the test. For instance, the registration date for the SAT conducted on May 7, 2022 was April 8, 2022. This not only gives you a general idea about SAT testing dates, but also allows you to prepare yourself for the registration date ahead of time.

When Should You Take the SAT?

Determining when to take the SAT can be a highly daunting process. But once you have the required information, you can make an informed decision about picking your SAT test dates that aligns with your plans for the future.

By default, many educators advise that you should start preparing for SAT requirements at least four months prior to the test. For instance, if you are planning to give your test in May, you should start preparing in January. This gives you enough time to imbibe the required knowledge and assimilate what to expect in the test.

Many students register for the SAT in a way that falls in line with their plan to apply for their dream colleges. Since most colleges start enrolling students from September, this leads students to give their SAT right in the summer or before the fall season.

The best way to prepare for your 2022 SAT dates is by taking a look at your current commitments, overall budget, and the time that you can take out for prep. Availability of relevant tutors also stands out as a factor. Since many tutors are busy during peak season of SAT prep, it is better to act fast and enroll in prep classes as soon as you can.

When Do Results For the SAT Come Out?

In case you are wondering when SAT scores are released, this typically happens 1-2 weeks after you have given the test. By knowing SAT score release dates, you can get enough time to plan out your college applications.

What is the Cost for Enrolling in the SAT?

When you are making a decision for your SAT test date, it is important to know how much taking the SAT cost. This enables you to plan things properly and register for the SAT without putting undue burden on your wallet.

  • Registration Fee: The registration fee for all U.S. students is $60.
  • Late Registration Fee: The late registration fee of $30 applies for applications submitted after the initial registration due date and until the final due date.
  • Changing SAT Testing Centers: The fee for changing your test center after the application is $25.

Other fees also apply for scenarios such as ordering rush scores after scores release date and canceling your registration after submission.

This information helps you pick a suitable option from 2022 SAT dates as well as 2023 SAT test dates.

Which SAT Test Centers Are Available?

A variety of test centers for SAT allow you to take the test at a nearby location. You can find the test center information through the website of CollegeBoard, which is the organization that manages SATs.

You can discover these details by following the steps outlined below:
  1. Go to College Board’s website.
  2. Enter your test date and location.
  3. Select your maximum distance from the given zip code.
  4. Pick a location that is available on your preferred date.
