It was clear that you were experienced in how you would approach your tutoring pace when it came to tutoring this learner. Throughout this session, it never felt like you were going too fast or too slow, and whenever your learner wanted to change the range of difficulty of the problem, you didn't let that dictate the pace or teaching style of the session which is a nice consistency. My favorite part about this session was how you approached the weak points of your learner. Whenever your learner was struggling, you didn't immediately tell them the answer, but instead asked questions that gradually built up to the answer.

You did an excellent job with engagement this session. Your learner was never distracted and always stayed on task with the practice problems. Additionally, I could see that they were also taking the lead on the practice problems themselves, and you did a fantastic job acting as a guide and vocal support when they struggled. You also set up the problems perfectly in which the environment dictated the learner to be able to understand the material to the point they understand why they did every step. Take for example, when you were explaining how to factor complex quadratics (one problem in this session was 3x^2-11x+6), you took your time explaining the logic behind how to solve this question very nicely up until the very last step.

Thank u so much Zeni... You were sarcastic, frank and finally AMAZING. Lucky to be your learner:)

Zeni responded promptly when the learner was unsure about foundational vocabulary (e.g., mixing up absolute value functions with quadratics). She gracefully pivoted to review basics, emphasized visual understanding (e.g., graph direction as “smiley face” or “frowny face”), and clarified confusion about function shapes. When Avika said she had the fundamentals down, Zeni respected that and moved on without over-explaining—demonstrating responsiveness and respect for the learner’s pace.

Zeni created an interactive session by consistently checking for understanding and prompting Avika to explain reasoning (e.g., identifying values and calculating the vertex). She adapted to questions in real time and gave the learner multiple opportunities to confirm comprehension. Her tone was supportive and collaborative, helping the learner feel confident and involved throughout the session.

Sorry! Great session though.

Throughout this session, it was clear that the learner was understanding the material better and better. There's not much to be said there. I loved how your learning environment was structured. You made it so that you and your learner were both having a learning experience and made it an open space to make mistakes. Near the end of the session, both of you were struggling a little bit with the Venn Diagram problems but you never waivered and instead made a good effort trying to understand the material and solutions so you could could explain it to your learner. Great job!

I know you have a deep understanding of the material you were teaching to your learner (quadratics, functions) because you were able to use basic analogies and examples (one time in this session, while explaining sets, you used a frown vs smiley face analogy that your learner was able to understand) that allowed your learner to better understand their material. Your learner was never confused or showed doubt when you used this technique. I loved how you tried to tackle any and all doubts with questions such as "are you REALLY sure" and that is good acknowledgement of the fact that learners may sometimes forget something or be too afraid to admit.

Amazing session!!!!

You are doing awesome on being prepared to run the session and you have a deep understanding on your class material. You acted very flexible in the session. Because you didn't just like read the contents on a slide show. Instead, you helped the learner with the specific topics that she felt confused with. So that the session would be more effective for the learner. This also showed your large reserve of knowledge that you could answer any of the learner's questions on the formulas or the practice questions

'mazin' session with u Zani, LOVED IT!!!!!

Learner · 1 mo. ago

This was a relaxed, supportive session with plenty of positive reinforcement (“Good job,” “Perfect,” “You are right”). Zeni created a space where Avika felt comfortable asking clarifying questions and admitting confusion. Even when Zeni made a small error describing graph shapes, she quickly acknowledged and corrected it without hesitation—modeling intellectual humility and keeping the learner’s trust intact. Her gentle humor and humility (“I’m a really bad tutor when it comes to functions, I know”) made the space even more welcoming.

Zeni demonstrated strong command over both absolute value and quadratic functions, clearly outlining key concepts like the vertex form for absolute value equations and the standard form and vertex formulas for quadratics. She introduced the standard structure f(x)=a∣x−h∣+k and related it effectively to the example. Her transitions between concepts (e.g., from absolute value to quadratics) were smooth, and she conveyed both conceptual and procedural knowledge confidently. Her ability to clarify common misconceptions (such as the V-shape of absolute value graphs) further reflected her solid understanding of the material.

You were so fun and patient with me! I love how you worked up each problem with me and explained everything. Thank you so much for this session and I can't wait to come back for more!
