This was a rather short, 30 minute, test taking session, however, from the few things I heard you talk about relating to the material, I believe that you do, in fact, have a pretty strong understanding of the material. Like, for example, after the test when you looked over one of the questions and very efficiently explained how to solve it using simple explanations and words, like when you said "say it out loud, which one sounds correct". I also noticed the use of correct vocabulary of SAT terms such as when you mentioned to your learners to remember to practice their cross-text connections and their words in context.

Hi Samiya, your idea to host a grammar series for non-native English speakers struck me as really creative and original. You continued to exhibit those qualities throughout the session, such as in your colorful, well-structured slides that included both technical terms and examples. You were able to cover a lot of content in just one session! I really liked how you used annotations to underline parts of a sentence like the subject, object, etc. You could apply this to the example sentences learners provide in chat, putting each one up on screen to serve as a more approachable visual reference. In addition, thank you for providing SAT specific tips, such as how periods and semicolons are treated the same.

She checks if the learners know limits and explains the topic learners are unfamiliar with. I liked how she explained the limits with graphs and examples. She didn't just explain HOW we got to our answer, but also WHY some limits work (in the instance of the hole). She continuously asks learners about things they remember in Precalculus and checks how everyone is doing. If there is a topic the learners already know, she makes sure not to spend too much time on it.

She was very encouraging with the example problems that she asked. She never put anyone down if they didn't know something and always explained very calmly for the learners with a smile on her face. She is able to build off of the learners' previous knowledge and adapt to each learner.

Now this is something I can talk about. You had a very warm welcome and exit, a kind demeanor, and a inviting vibe. I like that you kept your camera on, which is very important as a tutor. And that you made sure to have a quick summary of future sessions at the end of the practice test. I think just something short like that, talking about when your next session is (Wednesday in your case) can really help your learners feel confident and comfortable in your session.

She has so many resources that she's willing to share with other people. She has an accurate understanding of what AP Calculus BC encompasses, but also shares about what AP Calculus AB has. She also covers the differences of each test, which was very nice to see.
