You directly translated some of the words that the student was speaking and gave some clarification on the translations which was really helpful in further helping the learner. I liked your strategy of letting the learner read and then have them translate, both working on their speaking and reading comprehension skills.

I guess everybody knows that just saying "Yes, I get it" doesn't mean that the learner understood the topic and that in DSAT, he will easily solve problems like this one.

You had a very good explanation and problem solving, but the main point is to engage the learner and make him understand the topic, not the question. You should've given the learner some time to answer your first question "How would you approach this problem" and being 100% sure that he understood the topic by giving him another problem to solve(example from yourself).

As I said above the visuals, the teaching method and interactions with the students such as welcoming them and asking them how their day was and teaching them slowly based on their needs did create a comfortable learning environment and also strengthened the learners' confidence.

You tried to keep the learner engaged, but you weren't letting her take the lead in explaining how she got the answer that she did or is she understood why she got it wrong. You just jumped in and started solving the problems and occasionally asking if she understood or if she knew how you got to whatever step you were on in the problem-solving stages.
