The topics were well explained

Learner · 5 days ago

Here the tutor not only explains how to go about the problem at hand, but also gives particular strategies for how to do problems, such as the more simple question about how many isotopes of an element there were, and he also reminded the student how to determine atomic number Z and the number of neutrons in an element, without explicitly telling the answer. Very good tutoring, no real room for improvement in this case, but maybe the tutor could give some new practice examples occasionally to check the learner's progress, perhaps by presenting a new or made up configuration to test the learner's ability to apply what he was just helped with

I can definitely tell that the learners made progress. I love how you used the IDWDYD technique to guide the learners into finding solutions themselves. It is a really effective teaching method that I enjoyed when I was a learner and I think is a great supplement to tutoring on shw. The learners also did not seem to have any questions by the end of the session, demonstrating understanding and progress.

Created a presentation for the session that shows that you are prepared and determined to depend learner's understanding. Creates multiple examples and situations to explain to learners. I admire your "I DO, WE DO, YOU DO" format throughout for the lesson. I am impressed and think it really speaks to how you want your learners to get the most out of your session. Your expanded on a concept in your own words of the PowerPoint very thoroughly and nicely.

THANK YOU , the was great and the explanations were crystal clear like a professional teacher, love how you make concept fun to learn.

He did well in that he had the learner explain how he went about doing the exercises, and only jumping in to help when the learner is mistaken or lost in the problem, or to give hints or strategies to the learner. I do however feel that the lesson was maybe a little too student-led, in the sense that the tutor could take a minute or 2 out to write down a couple rules and formulas applicable to the chapter, such as by writing the equation of # of neutrons = mass number - atomic number

I liked how he explained the questions we didn't know how to solve.

I love the icebreaking question you had at the beginning, and I could tell the learners were engaged throughout the session. The message that you left at the beginning where you said, "During this session I encourage learners to actively participate. Feel free to interrupt me if you have any questions" is a great way to confirm learner progress! To further advance the quality of your sessions, I suggest creating more activities of learners working together, such as allowing them to annotate the screen together. Honestly, though, I think your sessions are already really sophisticated and showcase a strong sense of mastery in tutoring.

Great usage of the slideshow presentation. I liked how you designed it to begin with notes and then progresses to slides with example questions. The slides were visually easy to read and understand. The on-screen annotations were also very effective at directing the learner's gaze and is extremely beneficial for visual learners. Keep it up! Depending on what you are teaching, you can also try annotations in different colors for color-coding. This might not apply to how you were teaching the organic chemistry structures, but to earn an advanced rating, work on discussing with the learners on why the solution is what it is whenever possible :)
