I love the interaction

The tutor built rapport through personal anecdotes, reassurance about the financial aid process, and encouragement to explore both public and private options. She normalized confusion about forms and deadlines, making the session feel approachable and supportive.

Wonderful job going through so patiently. All the information in regards to the different types of aid that comes with the fafsa. Especially the pell grant and work study programs. I think that's essential to all students, because not a lot of them are aware of that. You have that option to go in um. On the year pill grant, in addition to rather, you're financial aid approval, so it's a great way to educate our students in regards to paying for school and be able to have a little bit more funding in in lieu of the pell grant sell great job.

And I also like that you ask questions in regards to what they were looking to learn out of this session. Because as the one student said, the second young lady stated, she's looking for help in how to pay for school. Basically whatever the options you're able to no her mind set it as far as where she's starting and that was a great way to Set the tone for the engagement of the session. So great job.

Yes, after learning about the net price calculator, they will now be able to use it to estimate college costs and take informed decisions regarding colleges they choose to apply to. The last part of the session showed how the session was helpful for them and busted a few pre-conceived myths.

While this was not a DSAT session where learners solved practice problems or made mistakes, any queries that learners had were solved instantly. A friendly and comfortable learning environment was created, in which the tutor built a sense of community by empathizing with learners by talking about her own experiences with financial aid (work study program) and her daughter applying to colleges. They discussed how moving for college could be a scary process and it was alright to be nervous.

Thank you for your helpful session and your friendly attitude. To be honest, I'm not good at speaking english and this is the first time I have joined a session full of foreigners, which make me feel a bit anxious. However, your geniune and cheerful behaviour calmed me down. Once again, thank you very much!

The slides were very good and easy to follow along with. They were not too text-heavy, and you explained them very well.

Fabulous job Keeping the learner's confidence-building throughout this session. By allowing them to patiently explain they had questions they had in providing them valuable feedback throughout this session. Especially when it came to the scholarships available and have pell grant's work.

I definitely enjoyed your introduction. Because it gave them a lot of time to reflect on what it is that they're looking for and that set their expectation for this session. And it also allowed when you ask them what great they're in for you, to provide information pertaining to the time frame of which you want to provide, when they should apply for financially, what type of scholarships they could be looking for or should be looking for since they're still in school, they have more time versus Those that are graduates recent graduates, they would need information really pertaining to the fafsa. In some scholarships, down the road that they can get, but mainly the fafsa, intelligent and more detailed information on something that would cover their tuition more immediately. So that was a good question to.

She started the session by talking about applying to colleges, connecting with the learner about how it would be big change, explaining terms that the learner was not aware of (for instance, sticker price), and explained differnt types of aid (need vs. merit) which ensured that Julia was following everything going on in the session before moving ahead. Using the calculator together ensured that the learner was engaged and understood the concepts taught. While screen sharing would have made it easier for learners to follow along, we all face technical issues from time to time and Christina did an amazing job of conducting the session and conveying all relevant information. Despite the issues, learners were engaged in the activity and completed it with her help. The only improvement would be fixing those technical issues before next session. At the end, they discussed the activity and busted some myths, that one of the learners was surprised by. It showed how the session was genuinely helpful for them. They also went through next steps, and they discussed sitting down with their parents/guardian and having a discussion about paying for college.

The tutor did an excellent job of explaining the process of using a net price calculator. The example of the two families having different aid packages helped illustrate that financial aid was not unattainable, regardless of family circumstances. It helped to clarify certain myths about how college could be affordable even for the 'middle class'. The step-by-step guidance of going through the calculator with the learner (even though screen sharing was not working due to technical difficulties) helped learner retention and engagement. She explained why these tools are useful in predicting the cost of college and how they could help make a well-informed decision before applying. Future sessions could cover why certain factors impacted college costs.
