I think you did an excellent job when it came to adjusting for your learner's needs. Even though your learner communicated their struggles, you made sure to ask more questions to see what else they truly struggled with. Even if they didn't explicitly say it, you made sure they said it by asking small questions along the way. This technique is very useful, like motivational interviewing, where you ask questions to uncover your learner's true unconscious thoughts. This is because you helped find their true struggles even after they communicated it with you, allowing you to pivot the lesson towards that. Great job!
