Ananya, you demonstrated a good sense of agility and responsiveness when addressing any student confusion. You immediately recognized and corrected your own error about the polarity of hydrophobic substances (correcting from polar to nonpolar). When a student asked why water is a versatile solvent, you made sure to pause to verify the student's understanding of the foundational concept of polarity (positive/negative sides) before building up to the answer. When questions arose about the charge state of nonpolar bonds, you acknowledged the confusion and promised to re-research and clarify this particular topic, demonstrating your commitment to making sure the content is focused on accuracy, rather than instant and potentially incorrect answers.

You did very well at managing the pace and ensuring student engagement. You repeatedly encouraged students to interrupt or chat if you were moving too quickly, showing your flexibility and prioritizing the students needs. She used two progress track sessions with private chat responses, which is a great way to check for individual understanding without peer pressure. You actively asked the students to explain concepts (for example, why water and oil don't mix), which successfully led to a clarifying moment about the definition of polar vs. nonpolar substances. Additionally, you dedicated a great deal of time at the beginning to providing external resources (AP Classroom, Barron's, Amoeba Sisters) and study tips (focus on vocab, past FRQs), which clearly sets the students up for success beyond the session. However, there were some instances where a majority of the concept was explained by you. Even though you made sure to effectively check learner understanding throughout the explanation, asking some rapid-fire questions throughout the explanation allows you to further evaluate your students' understanding and potential gaps in knowledge.

Thanks! This was honestly really helpfull, especially on terms or tricks and patterns to understand simpler. It just seemed more complicated in school, but when you see the bigger picture and how it connects, it really helps! :)

I really enjoyed the session flow. I was actually able to understand the concept better, making my confusions between mitosis and meiosis more clear.

Ananya, you created a strong learning environment that significantly strengthened learner confidence by prioritizing student comfort and continuous support rather than just strictly going off the lesson plan. Your opening, which was dedicating time to sharing external study resources and concrete study tips (vocab, past FRQs), immediately showed yourself as a mentor, which increased the overall confidence of the students. Your consistent encouragement for students to interrupt or slow you down created a lowered barrier to asking questions. This supportive environment was most notably seen when students experienced confusion, such as when questions on nonpolar charges arose. You made sure to validate their questions and promised to follow up. Your use of memorable devices (like for example, Endergonic indicating "Enter") and real-world analogies (oil and water, capillary action) served as good confidence builders by translating seemingly complex chemical concepts into more memorable and relatable terms.

Ananya, you clearly established a very strong foundation for AP Bio on Unit 1 by clearly defining fundamental concepts like matter, element, molecule, and compound. You effectively covered the structure of the atom (protons, neutrons, electrons) and the importance of an element's atomic number and atomic mass. You also distinguished he difference between the three major bond types: covalent (polar/nonpolar), ionic, and hydrogen bonds, linking them to electronegativity. You reinforced key vocab words/concepts and immediately applied these concepts to the structure and properties of water (polarity, solvent of life, hydrophilic/hydrophobic, cohesion/adhesion), making the structure-to-function connection an effective organizing principle.

I feel like I really understood certain concepts that I was struggling with especially like polar and nonpolar, and I feel like I have a better grasp on vocabulary terms.

I really liked how you've explained the visuals and processes of genetics, and I was originally really confused by the many names and ideas. Thank you for clarifying a lot of these vocab terms!

No matter what kind of learner you are, Ananya has got your back! With slides packed with pictures of every step, simplified explanations and patient teaching, everyone would enjoy her classes. Her voice is soothing, and Ananya comes up with brilliant ways to remember the more difficult scientific terms. She is thorough, so I would definitely recommend taking her class if you are struggling.

Great job checking their prior knowledge. You asked proper questions ("Do you guys know variables", "Have you separated variables" etc). The "on a scale of 1-5" was also great as it allowed you to understand how much they knew. You adapted to the leaners' needs well. You could tell when you were going a bit fast, you also made sure they were comfortable before moving on. You asked a lot of questions to make sure they were following along and also reassured them that they could take their time. Great job! I also think the structure of this session was great. You did the problem with them once and them allowed them to do it on their own. It ensured that they were actually learning. It also engaged them. It was clear that they were involved and working. Asking for their thought process made this added to this. Brilliant job. The end to this session was also great! You gave them resources for more practices, told them what to look for in the future (gave them a map of sorts), and you did problems throughout so you knew progress was made.
