Physics Basics: Beginner to Advanced

    Ended Wed, Jun 8, 2022
Hello! If you are just starting physics, or are an intermediate learner, this series is for you! In this series we will cover the entire book of 'Fundamentals of Physics' written by Resnick, Halliday & Walker It is a beautiful, simple yet rigorous textbook that will help you learn Physics from the basics and make you good at solving problems In each session, we will be going over 1 out of the 44 sections of this book in order. Here's the index of the book for an overview: PART 1: Mechanics &Properties of Matter PART2: Heat PART 3: Electromagnetism & Optics PART 4: Atomic Physics I am myself just starting out with this book and have little experience in physics, but it also means I can break it down for beginners and understand your struggles. This is NOT meant to be a class, where I teach, but rather a DISCUSSION PLATFORM with a specific goal in each session where we help each other out and learn the section of the book and also be accountable! I will also pass out the digital notes I have made at the end of each session - which will include many application problems. There's a link to the free pdf of the book in the discussion section below! NB: This Series may extend over months with about 5-7 sessions each week - it'll be worth it!

Work-Energy Theorem (Learn + Practice)

Hi. In this session, we will learn what the work-energy theorem is and work on many interesting problems of varying difficulty. I'll try my best to ensure that every learner learns to solve such problems by themselves & build confidence doing it through this session.
Happy learning physics!
(If time permits, I can help with other topics in highschool physics)

Waves are an important and fascinating part of our lives. In this session, we will learn to interpret the displacement equation for a progressive wave and understand the logic behind its construction. We will also solve problems where we will learn to construct a wave's equation just by looking at it. How cool is that! Prerequisite: Knowledge of trigonometric functions and the graphs of sine and cosine function. If you aren't familiar with those, you may learn them from Khan Academy using the links below. 1) https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra2/x2ec2f6f830c9fb89:trig/x2ec2f6f830c9fb89:unit-circle/a/trig-unit-circle-review 2)https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra2/x2ec2f6f830c9fb89:trig/x2ec2f6f830c9fb89:trig-graphs/v/we-graph-domain-and-range-of-sine-function

We will learn about Magnetic Confinement of Plasma in Nuclear Fusion Reactors. It is the base idea on which tokamak Reactors such as ITER work. If we have time we will look at the various leaks that can occur in this Confinement. You just need highschool physics knowledge or just a desire to understand Physics for this session. We will also base our understanding on some research Review papers for credibility

We shall learn Ray Optics, also called Geometrical Optics. We will look at reflection, refraction, total internal reflection & prism. Think about this as a discussion rather than a tutoring session. If there's time & if anybody is interested We will look at how compound microscopes & telescopes work!

We will be learning about Circular Motion! We'll discuss centripetal force, acceleration, velocity and angular velocity and we will try some problems to check our knowledge. If there's time we'll go over centrifugal force and why we use pseudo forces! Think of this as a discussion more than a tutoring session. Enjoy!
