You were incredibly well-prepared for the session on Desmos tips and suggestions. The content was thorough and clearly presented, with a great mix of question types that catered to different learning styles. Each question provided valuable insights, helping students grasp key concepts and apply them effectively. Overall, the session was engaging and extremely informative, offering practical advice that undoubtedly enhanced the understanding and use of Desmos. I particularly appreciate how, before diving into practice questions, you introduced the basic features of Desmos, such as creating tables, duplicating equations, and converting between radians and degrees. This foundational overview was incredibly helpful for learners who might not be as familiar with the Desmos calculator. The variety of question types and the valuable insights provided further enhanced the session, making it both engaging and informative.

It was a great idea to start off with introductions! You set a good example by going first. It was also great that you encouraged the use of chat so that people could interact in whatever way they found comfortable. You are very willing to repeat explanations and answer questions, showing to learners that you care about their success. You did a great job by reassuring learners that they could interrupt if they felt you were moving too fast and encouraging them not to hesitate with questions. This created an open and supportive environment where students felt comfortable engaging and seeking clarification. It was very nice of you to congratulate the learners with encouraging words like “Absolutely,” “Good job,” and “Keep it up.” Additionally, you took the time to ask one learner about her upcoming exam and offered her motivation, which was especially supportive as she prepares for the test. These positive affirmations helped boost their confidence and motivation.

I appreciated how you engaged learners by asking about their familiarity with the steps of the problem and the types of questions before diving into the solutions. For instance, before tackling systems of equations, you checked their understanding of the concept of no solutions and discussed overlapping part of inequalities. Additionally, you inquired whether they knew how to convert between radians and degrees. This approach helped ensure that all learners were on the same page and provided a solid foundation before moving on. I also appreciated how you periodically checked in with learners, asking if they were following along, giving a thumbs up reaction, or needed any concepts repeated. Your encouragement for students to share their screens or type in the chat was very supportive. However, since no one was willing to come off mute and share their screens, you might consider trying cold calling a learner to see if that encourages more participation. Additionally, by giving them ample time to solve problems at their own pace, you allowed them to develop a deeper understanding of the material. Additionally, you thoughtfully asked whether they were ready to discuss the solutions, ensuring that no one felt rushed and that everyone had a chance to process the information.
