SSCI: Schoolhouse.world Mock Science Olympiad Tournament

    3rd session

Schoolhouse Mock Science Olympiad Tournament Are you ready to challenge your knowledge of science and show your problem-solving abilities? Participate in the Schoolhouse Science Olympiad Mock Tournament, a STEM Community Tournament hosted right here at Schoolhouse! This high-energy competition features two distinct divisions, Division B (Middle School) and Division C (High School). It is designed to challenge your expertise across a wide field of Sciences, including Physics, Astronomy, Biology, and Chemistry. Whether you are a seasoned competitor in SciOly already, or a newcomer looking to compete and potentially start a Science Olympiad at your own school, this is your opportunity to collaborate and excel. Currently, our prizes are Certificates of Achievement, the chance to add onto your college transcript with high-ranking results. We invite all Schoolhouse members to form teams or go solo if your confident and join us for this landmark event. Why? To sharpen your scientific skills, work together with a team, and support the growth of the #academic-competitions Subworld Initiative! Good luck to all teams! This event is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Science Olympiad, Inc This community event was brought to you by SSCI, Schoolhouse Science Competitions Initiative. Tournament Specifications & Event List For this session, we will focus exclusively on Notes and Knowledge-based Study Events. Participants will be evaluated on a Honor Code of not cheating. [From an 3x AIME Qualifier] Competition Math

    25th session

In this course, we will be going over AMC 8, 10, 12, and AIME content. Why should you take this course? Although not necessary for school math, the methods taught in this class can be very beneficial in solving problems in a "smarter" way. This class will teach you tips and tricks schools tend to not teach. From my personal experience, competition math has made school math very easy and offers me much more insight into understanding concepts. Additionally, competition math can be very helpful in boosting your resume for high school and college. Many of the top schools like MIT ask specifically for your AMC scores, so it will make you stand out from other students. What will we learn in this course? The best way to get better at competition math is to do problems, especially those of past AMC tests. While going over past problems, we will spend time learning about the four different categories in math: Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, and Counting & Probability. This course will be designed to give you better intuition for AMC problems as well as teach you new formulas and strategies. How will the classes operate? A normal class will be a 90-minute session. It is not helpful to listen to me explain solutions for 90 minutes, nor is it helpful to solve just problems for 90 minutes. So, I will give you a few minutes of time to attempt the problem and then we will go over the problem together.

Thank you so much Jayden! You really are an amazing tutor. You were willing to slow down to help me understand the topics that I needed to and was really patient. There is truly no one else on SchoolHouse like you!

After just 8 classes, I feel much more ready to pass the AMC 12 this year! I’ve learned so much, and I truly appreciate your help!

Thanks so much for this. Questions are already easier to understand compared to when I used to look at them before after only 1 lesson. Not only that but I find the class a lot of fun. It's not like school where it is boring. It is very engaging and makes you think, which I enjoy.

Jayden, your experience with competitive mathematics shows in this session. Your explanation of all of the concepts that you covered are thorough and leave no room for errors or misinterpretations. The slideshow that you prepared was professional, and I particularly liked the section about important terminology. I find that a lot of tutors don't go over terminology before using it, and that can leave the learners quite confused. Annotating the screen allowed the learners to not have to rely on their own mental visualization of the processes you covered, so good job on that end. You also segued effectively into describing how the competitions are typically set up and organized, showing that you genuinely care about the learners' success in these competitions. Well done!
