You were very attuned to when Emily struggled. When she did, you walked her through it and explained it in ways that made sense to her. You noticed what she needed and made sure to provide it. Like in the first question you two worked on. She was confused about how to solve it, so you provided a different explanation to understand it better. The multiple examples you came up with towards the end worked well, too. Nicely done!

You were definitely extremely helpful and flexible with what your tutees are having trouble on, quickly finding the right problems, solutions, explanations, and assisting stimuli to help guide their learning.

You did a great job of balancing instruction and teaching with letting your tutees guide your next step. This is great in ensuring that they learn from what you are teaching them and from their own experience through personal application. Great job!

You were very kind and nice to your student and also open minded. You were open to any question and didn't dismiss anything they said. Overall, great job.

Yes, there is clear evidence that Emily made progress during this session. She demonstrated improved understanding of solving one-step and two-step equations, handling compound inequalities, and graphing solutions. For example, she correctly identified the need to flip inequality signs when dividing by a negative number after your explanation. Her active participation in solving problems and asking clarifying questions indicates that she gained confidence in applying these concepts.

You created a supportive and encouraging environment through your patient tone and positive reinforcement. For example, you reassured Emily when she made mistakes by explaining that errors are part of the learning process. Your approachable demeanor likely made her feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with challenging material. To further strengthen this area, consider celebrating small milestones (e.g., “Great job solving that compound inequality!”) to highlight her progress.

This was a very beneficial session. At the start, Emily looked nervous to cover this topic. She even said that it looked more difficult than it actually was. With your help, she was able to solve the problems with ease and appeared to be much calmer. You created a nice, comfortable learning environment for her. You also strengthened her confidence multiple times by showing no judgment and adjusting to her learning pace. Great work!

Right away, I understood that you made an incredible connection with Emily, from asking about her exam to recalling how much time the two of you worked together for. I especially loved that Emily were actually able to “correct” (for a lack of a better word) you since it shows that she truly cared and engaged in your sessions! Moreover, I agree and loved that you prioritized Emily’s needs first over the other tutees but still made sure that they are able to receive the help they needed in the same quality as what Emily received. Fantastic job!

From your session, I can tell you were extremely prepared to help your tutees. You were able to find practice problems and review sheets, simplify concepts, and even bring in analogies to help your tutee understand them. Case in point, you used the paper-folding analogy to describe symmetry, which allows your tutee to visualize the concept and get a better understanding. Well done!

You understood and knew the topic very well as you were fluent in teaching it to others, so great job. You also used great visuals to enhanced your session.

You effectively checked Emily's prior knowledge by asking her to solve simpler equations before progressing to more complex ones. You adapted well to her needs by revisiting concepts when she expressed confusion, such as clarifying the importance of flipping inequality signs when dividing by a negative number. Your consistent use of follow-up questions (for example, “What would be our first step here?”) ensured engagement and allowed you to confirm her understanding.

You demonstrated a strong understanding of algebraic concepts, including solving, simplifying, and graphing equations in slope-intercept form, as well as inequalities. Your explanations were clear and thorough, such as when you broke down the steps for isolating variables and solving compound inequalities. Additionally, your use of analogies, like the "crocodile mouth" for inequality signs, made abstract concepts more relatable and engaging for the learner. To further enhance your teaching, consider summarizing key formulas at the end of each section to reinforce learning.
