Speech Writing/Presenting
Speech writing and/or presenting doesn't have to come natural to you in order for you to love and become good at it! Knowing how to write and present well will help you in school, work, and even personal communication and connection. In this series we will cover what my speech and debate league calls "platform" speeches, which can be informative and/or argumentative, and may contain visual aids (though they are not expected). The series is beginner friendly, so don't worry about feeling overwhelmed here! We will go over:
-brainstorming ideas for speeches
-how to get started writing them
-how to edit a speech
-writing speeches for specific and general audiences
-speaker personas
-how to present different types of speeches (a persuasive speech should be presented differently than an informative one!)
-and more!
All of the above topics are key to understanding yourself as a speaker and connecting to the people who listen to you :)
This series is for people who have an idea (or multiple) for a speech, have no ideas for speech but want to come up with some, or just want to learn about speech writing/presenting without writing one of their own. In addition, it is open to all levels of experience, whether you've never given a speech before or you're an award winning speaker.
