Hey there!

My name is Liya and I'm a middle school student from Maryland who likes to paint, write (Working on a novel!!), read (Currently reading Show Me A Sign), and bake (I need more tips on how to make pastry cream, last time . . . it was a mess) in my free time. I'm a member of the Schoolhouse Scholars Guild and the Welcoming Team. I am a student leader at my school district (Working with SMOB) and a major Potterhead ⚡

Are you a person looking to improve your study habits? Are you trying to improve your grades? 
If so, then this series might just be for you! 
﻿
In this mini-study group, we'll meet once a week and work on getting our assignments done, studying, or getting help from others. It is very intense, as we'll be working for long hours, but we'll take frequent breaks, and take it slow. 
﻿
During each meeting, we'll start out by sharing our goals to achieve by the end of the session, take a few minutes to get ourselves situated, and begin working, with 30-minute work, and 5-minute breaks. During the 30 minutes, feel free to ask any questions related to what you're working on. 
﻿
During those 5-minute breaks, we can share our progress, ask any questions, or get up, walk around, get a drink, etc. 
﻿
At the end of each session, we'll share whether if we accomplished the goals we set for ourselves, and find things we can improve on next time. We'll end the session with a study tip that we can incorporate next time.

World War II & The Cold War

We will discuss the events that took place during World War II, which will include a brief discussion on the Holocaust as well as an in-depth analysis of the buildings of the first Atomic Bomb. Additionally, we will examine how this war led to the start of the Cold War and significant events such as the Cuban missile crisis, the Test-Ban Treaty, the Berlin crisis, communism, and the fall of the Soviet Union. We'll also talk about people who had significant effects on the course of the war but aren't very well known, like Oleg Penkovsky, Harry Seidel, or Janet Chisholm. We'll also talk about the Space Race and other equally interesting and suspenseful events. We'll then end the session with a competitive game of Kahoot/Blooket. If you're interested in learning about the events that occurred between 1935 and 1991 in an interactive and interesting environment, feel free to attend!
