Spreadsheets can dramatically enhance your organization, so it's best to learn about them as soon as you can! In this series, we will start from the very beginning and work our way towards the more advanced functionality within Google Sheets.

Some people do worse on tests than they should; some people do better. This series covers the "theory" behind test taking and general tips that you can use on any multiple-choice test, with a focus on the SAT. With this series, you can hopefully transform from "scoring worse than my ability" to "scoring better".

We'll cover some basic strategies for taking the SAT reading section while going through Practice Test #8.

[Schoolhouse Summer Camp] Linguistics is the science behind human languages, which we of course use all the time. In this series, we will cover a variety of fascinating concepts, tools, and trivia. Examples: - Concept: "Minimal Pairs" - Some languages care about certain sound distinctions while others don't, e.g. "ta" and "tha" in Hindi. - Tools: Why do vowels sound different from consonants? Praat plots a spectrogram of your speech so you can visually see the difference. - Trivia: English and the Austronesian language Mbarbaram both use the word “dog” to refer to canines.

This series is primarily for those taking AP Computer Science A this year, though anyone can join. It covers half of the school year. Each session will be highly interactive. That way, I can see how you perform and help provide timely feedback when necessary. This series will taught in Java to match the AP curriculum, though programming languages aren't too different from each other.

Warmup: Short reading exercises 2. Timed passage from SAT Practice Test #6 reading section + answer review 3. (optional): Additional guided reading exercise, where I introduce a simple strategy that we try out together on a passage. The goal of this 8-week series is to build your general reading comprehension skills for success on both the SAT and in school with your fellow schoolhouse.world learners. Each week looks like: 1. Main session (Sunday 11am US/Pacific) - Similar to my previous sessions with a practice passage, debrief, and brief discussion of strategy. 2. Optional office hours (Saturday 10am US/Pacific) - Slower-pace sessions where I go over the optional reading homework and the SAT Writing section.
