About

Join this interactive series where we explore Art of Problem Solving’s Introduction to Algebra; one of the best books for mastering the fundamentals of algebraic thinking. Each session will focus on one chapter at a time, breaking down the most important concepts, formulas, and problem-solving strategies to help you build a strong foundation in algebra.

We’ll work through example problems step-by-step and practice applying key ideas to challenging exercises. You’ll also learn effective approaches and reasoning techniques that can help you in math contests and advanced coursework.

Remember to bring a Pencil, Eraser, and Calculator! Each lesson runs 60–90 minutes, covering one chapter per day for steady, in-depth progress through the textbook.

Whether you’re just starting algebra or want to strengthen your fundamentals, this series will help you understand not just how to solve problems, but why the methods work.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please try your best not to miss any sessions because the material tends to have depth and uses knowledge from previous chapters, making it hard to catch up once you lose track. If you have to take an absence, kindly inform me either in the session's group chat or privately as you wish.

Fair warning: you will be withdrawn from the series if you have 2+ unexcused absences.

Thu 11:00 PM - Fri, 12:15 AM UTCOct 30, 11:00 PM - Oct 31, 12:15 AM UTC

In this session, we will attempt to cover 2 foundational chapters of Introductory Algebra: Art of Problem Solving; "Chapter 1: Follow the Rules" where we review very important skills that we will use in the rest of the course (BEDMAS, Factoring, Distribution) and "Chapter 2: x Marks the Spot" where we cover expressions, and it's different applications like distribution, factoring, and fractions. Combined, these 2 lessons will make sure we are on the right track to mastering problem solving in Algebra 1!

It is important to note that for this session, I expect you to have some pre-requisite knowledge on the 2 topics mentioned above as this session will be quite fast-paced and is purely for the intent of review, not in-depth analysis. Remember to bring a Pencil, Eraser, and Calculator!

In this session, we will cover 2 chapters, "Chapter 3: 'One Variable Linear Equations" and "Chapter 4: More Variables". This session will be a direct build-up on the previous session where we apply the skills from the previous session, but this time, take a deeper look in how these skills help us solve equations, word problems, and help us understand all the magic that a variable can help us do! Remember to bring a Pencil, Eraser, and Calculator!
