SAT Math 650+ Study Group

About

Twice a week, in preparation for the November SAT, we'll review medium/advanced difficulty SAT Math topics. The goal is to get all participants to 650+ on the math section. This course is low commitment but although there is no 'minimum' score, I'd recommend you come in with a 580+ on math, just because the material we'll be reviewing will be tailored to that score range (580-640 scorers).

Hope to see lots of you there!

I’m Oliver, and I’m a rising senior from Massachusetts applying to tutor the SAT! I love to ski and bike. I’m really excited about the opportunity to help other kids out with a test that gave me so much trouble.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

If you're going to miss one meeting, no need to contact me about it. If you're going to miss more than one consecutively, contact me with a legitimate reason or you will be removed from the sessions going forward.

SESSION 1

SAT Math

SAT Math

Thu 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 2, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll get a baseline for everyone's needs going into this test! I'll take suggestions from the chat on the zoom meeting, and we'll discuss lots of concepts collaboratively instead of focusing on one specific area

SESSION 2

SAT Math

SAT Math

Tue 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 7, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll dive into desmos, showing just how vital it is to scoring higher on the math section. We'll start really basic with, but based upon how the class feels, we can get into more advanced topics as class goes.

SESSION 3

SAT Math

SAT Math

Thu 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 9, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll continue our work with desmos, polishing our understanding with more complicated and nuanced use cases. We'll move from basic linear algebra into more nonlinear concepts, and introduce the life-saving regression feature.

SESSION 4

SAT Math

Tue 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 14, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll conclude our mastery of desmos. By this point, you should understand not only how to correctly utilize the software, but why and in which cases. I'll take any questions for the last half of the meeting.

SESSION 5

SAT Math

SAT Math

Thu 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 16, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll start with geometry. It's a complete pivot away from desmos, as most of this work will be done with a pen and paper. Again, we'll start basic, but I'm more than open to going into more depth depending on the consensus of the group.

SESSION 6

SAT Math

SAT Math

Tue 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 21, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll continue our work with geometry, following a similar progression to that of desmos where we got progressively more advanced. This will also be our last geometry day, as the field is less prevalent than is algebra of both the linear and nonlinear variety, which we took three days on instead of two.

SESSION 7

SAT Math

SAT Math

Thu 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 23, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today, we'll spend our one and only session going over statistical/analytical questions. These typically have to do with mean, median, or percentage, and are typically the easiest ones for people to score well on without study, hence why we're only dedicating one session to them.

SESSION 8

SAT Math

SAT Math

Tue 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTCOct 28, 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM UTC

Today will be our last session! I'll dedicate the entire class to essentially 'office hours'. Attendance is entirely non mandatory (as is it for the other days, but this one especially) This session will be designed to take last minute questions that you feel you need answered before the November SAT.
