Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes when you send a message or watch a video online? This course is your complete guide to the world of network engineering. We'll start with the core concepts and move into the practical skills you need to design, build, and troubleshoot digital networks.

You'll get visual-on experience with LANs and WANs, master the art of routing and switching, and learn how to secure networks against modern threats. This is our first step into the digital world! We'll kick things off by answering the big question: "What is network engineering? What is the internet?" in simple, relatable terms. We'll explore the digital building blocks of the internet—IP addresses and MAC addresses to understand how devices find each other. We will also understand what switches and routers in the internet world, and how they play a huge role in the internet.

  • Hands-On Fun: We'll dive into a mini-lab where we will get to play with a virtual network to see how routers and switches magically connect everything.

You know about computers, but what about other devices? We'll explore the roles of servers, access points (APs), and smart devices (like your coffee maker or smart speaker) in a network. We'll learn how all these devices connect to form a modern digital ecosystem.

  • Hands-On Fun: You'll get to set up a simple device network all by yourself! This session will give you the confidence to start building your own networks from scratch. We'll also get a gentle introduction to the Command Line Interface (CLI) a powerful way to talk directly to your computer
