About

In this series, we will get into some of the base topics of biology. Covering topics like evolution and adaptation, natural selection, environmental relations, and more. We will use tools like prepared lessons, review Khan Academy quizzes and practice tests, learning games, and more to help teach base topics. No prior knowledge is necessary, as this is an introductory course.

Tutor Qualifications

Throughout my high school career, I have taken multiple biology and science courses, including A.P. biology, and I am currently aiming to graduate with a science and maths-based honors diploma.

I have previous experience with peer mentoring and tutoring and have found myself extremely passionate about it, I love sharing my knowledge with others!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

There is no strict attendance policy, but it is recommended you attend each session as they build off of each other. If you can't make a session, please let me know in advance if possible!

We will have lesson sessions two times a week, with additional office hours throughout the week.

About the Tutor

Hi, my name is Julia! I'm a high school student working through an online program focused on STEM and advanced classes, like various A.P. topics. I love learning and in turn sharing what I know with others. I'm really passionate about science, history, and literature, and even more so helping others. In my free time, I love creating and consuming media. I find recreation in painting, drawing, and making music. I also love reading and playing my favorite games!

Orientation

In this introductory session, we will do some icebreakers and get to know both each other and the course at hand. We will have time for some starting questions, and get to see what everyone knows!

Biology

This is our first Lesson Session! In this session, we will cover a lesson on evolution, what it is, and how it affects organisms and their environments. Noting concepts like adaption and natural section. We will run through some practice, and if time allows I'd be more than happy to offer one on one help.

Biology

In this session, we will talk about how organisms interact with the environment around them. We will cover ideas like how organisms and species can evolve at similar rates, survival of the fittest, and how their environments can affect those processes.

Biology

In the previous session, we learned how organisms interact with their environment, noting ideas like co-evolution and survival of the fittest. This session will cover topics like ecosystem resiliency and how that affects the organisms in said environment, as well as critical concepts like extinction and speciation. We will run through some practice, and if time allows I'd be more than happy to offer one on one help.
