About
Hello Everyone, For the most part we come to schoolhouse to prep for AP courses along with SAT prep however I felt in day and age like today we must recognize and learn about the various different situations in the Middle East as we deal with modern day geopolitical situations. We will go over various topics like key themes of colonialism, nationalism, oil, religion, authoritarianism, and resistance. We will explore the fall of the Ottoman Empire and early constitutional revolution Iran. Then WW1 and and the Sykes-Picot Agreement and the Balfour Declaration noting the long term effects. Then colonialism in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and more. WW2 and postwar order and the Arab-Israeli War and the Nakba. Beyond that the development of Pan-Arabism and the Cold War's effect on the region. Then looking towards Oil in OPEC with the 1967 and 1973 Arab-Israeli Wars and the Iranian Revolution. Pushing ahead to the Iran-Iraq War and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and Lebanon's Civil War. Beyond then we have the Gulf War and Oslo Accords and other generational shifts. Then 9/11 and the regional responses with the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Beyond even that we will go over the Arab Spring and changes in Egypt, Syria, Libya and more. Under the assumption we got through all of this we will begin to discuss even more modern and issues even faced today along with urbanization and the megacities of Riyadh, Dubai, Cairo, Abu Dhabi and more!
