About

COURSE OVERVIEW
Hi! I am Sean, an incoming Reading + Writing senior SAT tutor and an incoming freshman at the University of Florida. I have taught SAT bootcamps for 90+ hours to 60+ learners, and I also got a 760 on the Reading and Writing dSAT on my personal take. I am so excited to have you in my one-month bootcamp to prepare you to ace the Reading and Writing section of the SAT. In this course, we will go over every domain and the question types they entail, and get plenty of exposure and practice with a variety of questions. Through group practice sessions, lectures, and practice tests, I intend to be your guide on the journey of mastering the R + W dSAT through maximizing your exposure to SAT content.

BOOTCAMP PURPOSE
You most probably know this already, but the SAT is an incredibly important test that can open and close doors for you. Although it is not the only thing that defines you, the SAT can open the doors to scholarships, admissions into top universities, and other great opportunities through giving you the chance to stand apart against other students in competitive admissions rooms in the United States and around the world. I don't say this to intimidate you, but rather motivate you to engage on this month-long prep journey with me :)

I also tell you this because college admissions was a major motivator for me to keep trying on the SAT, even when I didn't want to open up my prep books and do practice problems. The bottom line: I want to help you get the SAT score that puts you one step closer to making your dreams come true through this bootcamp!
COURSE EXPECTATIONS
Schoolhouse already covers attendance in another section of this bootcamp description, but I'll mention it again since it is important. Please try to attend every session. Every session, we will be doing something that will further your test-taking skills, whether it is practice tests, lessons on fundamental SAT concepts, or targeted group practice sessions. Every session is designed to make you better, so please show up. If you can't show up, I understand, as life happens. When this happens, please let me know through excusing your absence, and I will send you make-up materials.

Showing up isn't enough to succeed on the SAT, as it requires a lot of practice outside of our sessions. I like to think of the SAT like playing an instrument. Do the bare minimum, and you will barely get better. However, those who put in a lot of focused effort in their practice and attendance have in my experience, gotten the most drastic score increases from the bootcamps I teach. I will go over all the key skills with you via lectures and practice, but it is up to you to reinforce those materials on your own time. To make the most of these sessions, Schoolhouse recommends that you practice AT LEAST 30 minutes per week. However, more focused practice would help you get even more out of this bootcamp and achieve your maximum potential on the SAT. Furthermore, I will also go over independent practice strategies, resources, and recommendations with you so it doesn't ever become too overwhelming.

I will be there with you every step of the way to make sure your SAT Prep journey is as fruitful as possible, but also remember that you will have to help yourself as well to maximize your results. If you put in your best effort forward in this Bootcamp, I will see to it that they won't go in vain through effective planning and execution of the dSAT curriculum.

SUPPORT
I care very deeply about your success on the SAT and beyond. The moment you sign up for this bootcamp, you will have all the support, knowledge, and community that you need to succeed. I will host office hours after my bootcamps (usually 30 minutes to an hour after bootcamp sessions end depending on demand) are over in case you have questions about ANYTHING related to the SAT. Whether it is keeping motivated and holding yourself accountable, specific guidance related to an SAT topic, or simply reassuring you along your journey I am here to help you on your journey as much as I am able to. If there is anything I can do to support you further on this journey, please do not hesitate to hit me up via Schoolhouse chat; I am ALWAYS happy and able to help you in the best way that I can. I will respond to all messages within at most a day, but my response time would usually be about an hour or two on messages sent from 8 AM - 6 PM EST.

CONCLUSION
Once again, I am very, very excited to have you join my Reading and Writing SAT Bootcamp. I hope you find it as enjoyable and fruitful as possible. I can't wait to see you in my bootcamp and see what you all are capable on achieving on the SAT and beyond.
