We'll start off by building fluency and confidence through fun, low-pressure speaking activities. We'll start with partner interviews and introductions, then practice spontaneous speaking using random word prompts and impromptu questions. The goal is to think on your feet, speak clearly, and give supportive feedback. We'll end with a short group reflection on what felt easy, what was challenging, and what we learned.

This session focuses on improving clear speech through tongue twisters and fun articulation exercises. We’ll start with group practice, then move into small groups for speed variation challenges. We'll tackle trickier tongue twisters, followed by an exercise involving famous speeches—reciting them once normally, then with a pencil in the mouth to highlight articulation. We’ll finish with a group discussion reflecting on the experience.

We’ll practice expressing and recognizing emotions through partner conversations and fun guessing games. Everyone will speak at least once while we explore how changing emphasis in a sentence can shift its meaning. Then, we’ll deliver short speeches both in monotone and with emotion to see how tone really changes the message.

We’ll kick off with a fun “Yes, and…” activity to build quick thinking and teamwork through short conversations with different partners. Then, everyone will take turns speaking twice using random words, with quick feedback to highlight strengths and areas to improve. We’ll finish with a random question challenge where volunteers practice thinking on their feet, followed by a group reflection on what we learned.

We’ll start by introducing ourselves and sharing our STEM interests. Then, we’ll practice answering a mix of technical questions about our projects and personal questions about our experiences. We’ll also take turns asking peer-created questions to build confidence speaking on the spot. Next, we’ll explore creative “what if” scenarios to think outside the box. Finally, we’ll reflect on how to communicate our STEM work clearly to different audiences and what makes a strong presentation.

For our final session, we’ll prepare and deliver 3–5 minute presentations on our favorite STEM topics, focusing on explaining them clearly and with enthusiasm. We’ll take turns sharing our talks, then give and receive feedback to help everyone improve. Finally, we’ll reflect on what made the presentations effective and the communication skills we’ve gained throughout the course
