About

Hi, my name is Gene and I'm stoked to be a tutor this month! I'm a rising senior from NYC. I was super overwhelmed going into the SAT and I thought I wasn't cut out for it. After a long process of preparing, I ended up understanding my strengths and weaknesses on the SAT and I grew comfortable with the test's tricks and patterns. I received a 780 on the reading/writing portion last year. I hope to demystify a lot of the confusing air around the SAT and not only support tutees in knowledge but also in spirit! Besides that, I'm into music, poetry, French, nature, and clothes.

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

I’m a high school senior who scored well on the SAT this past year. Going into the SAT process, I had low hopes and I was intimidated by the number and kinds of questions on the test. Schoolhouse tutoring was very helpful for me and the SAT went really well; much better than I thought possible for me. I would love to help students going into the SAT process prepare for the test and additionally clear some of the foggy air around what it takes to be a successful SAT tester. It’s my belief that anyone is capable of scoring well on the SAT, especially if they have an understanding of the tricks used in SAT questions and of their individual strengths and weaknesses in the test. I’m better at english than I am math, so I’d say I’m a better tutor for students struggling in english than math. (Although I’m pretty good at math too). I’m also interested in music, french, the outdoors, and poetry.
