He went step by step to show the student how to solve the problem and the reasoning behind it. He also asked for her input along the way and made sure she understood how to solve the problem.

He spoke in a friendly manner and made sure she understood the problem as he showed her the steps to solve it. By the end she seemed confident she could solve this type of problem on her own in the future.
