About

Each week, I will suggest a challenging but approachable problem in the SHW studio on the Scratch platform. I strongly encourage you to try to solve it independently or in a small group. You may want to record your journey and the reflection so that you can share it with others. Then, you can make a Scratch project with the learning documentation in the same studio for others to see, comment, and remix. We will also meet regularly to share how it went.

I love math. For me, it is an infinite playground where I can explore and engage with anybody; a beautiful bud of mystery I can see bloom when being patient and diligent; and a well of inspiration that allows me to connect seemingly unfitting puzzle pieces. Yet, most people find math boring, dull, and irrelevant. My almost two decades of being a math tutor to students of various backgrounds, ages, and aptitudes provide me with enough confidence in the belief that anybody can transform their attitude towards math. Success comes when one does not view math as an enemy but a friend. I enjoyed math tests and exams, and it showed, as I tended to achieve: IB Math HL 7; 800/800 from SAT QR and Math Subject test. I went on to study math, and I have a pure math BSc. However, I realized that I cherish creating spaces where people can experience joy, awe, and aha-moments through problem-solving, on par with doing the math myself. I delved into reading research on scalable math education for over a decade. My search is over. I found Schoolhouse. When integrated with other technologies, this platform can satisfy what I envisioned. Schoolhouse can be the space to ignite the love for math discovery for you, too. I would be happy to be your guide on the journey.
