About
In this series, we’ll explore the intersection between business, economics, and technology by exploring real-world topics like microchips, algorithmic pricing, and the future of the job market. Using current news articles as starting points, we’ll break down how these issues shape our world today. Most importantly, the focus will be on sharing our own opinions, building our understanding together, and brainstorming solutions we believe could make a difference.

Microchips are tiny pieces of technology that power almost everything we use, from phones to cars to artificial intelligence. In this session, we’ll explore what microchips actually are, where they show up in daily life, and how they drive the future of business and technology. We’ll also consider the challenges of a world where a few countries control most chip production — and discuss what role we, as the next generation, play in shaping that future.

Algorithmic pricing is when companies use data and software to adjust prices in real time — something you’ve probably seen with apps like Uber or Amazon. In this session, we’ll look at how it works, where it shows up in our daily lives, and what it means for both consumers and businesses. We’ll also unpack its fairness, the risks it brings to competition and inequality, and reflect on what these pricing systems mean for us and the markets we’re a part of.
