About

Hello, my name is Laurel. I am really excited to tutor for the SAT! I am a senior in high school in Illinois. I was chosen by my school to help tutor english, which I really enjoy. In my free time, I love to read books, eat chocolate, and bake. I also help take care of pigs and cows at a local farm! In my sessions, I hope to help teach easy strategies for success in the R & W section of the SAT  that I used myself when I took the test last yer.

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

I am a high school student in Illinois. I help tutor English at my school and have really enjoyed the experience. I’m a Girl Scout, a member of 4-H, and an avid reader. Currently, I’m working on providing educational resources to homeless children for my Girl Scout Gold Award. Last year, I took a prep class for the SAT and would love to share what I learned!

Review core concepts and test-taking strategies, with a peer tutor who excelled on the SAT.

Practice and review official full-length SAT® practice tests, including one Bluebook test.

Get personalized support with the most challenging questions and concepts.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please do not miss more than one session over the four weeks, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended every session.

Message your tutor if you have an extenuating circumstance and must miss a session. If you have two unexcused absences, your tutor may remove you from the bootcamp series.

We’ll start with an orientation to get to know each other. Then, we will review Standard English Conventions and Grammar in the writing section. After, we will work through a shortened practice exam and review questions you’d like to go over.

We’ll begin by reviewing Expressions of Ideas on the writing sections. After, we will finish the practice exam from the first session and we will review any questions you have. We will wrap the session up with targeted writing practice.

We’ll take another practice exam (Writing and Language). We will then review the exam and  work through any questions you’d like to go over. We will end the session with a quick round of targeted writing practice.

We’ll start the session by reviewing strategies for a focus passage type (based on the results of the previous practice exams). Afterwards, we will begin the a reading practice exam and review any questions you have.

We’ll first finish the reading practice exam from the previous session. We will then answer any questions you have from the practice. To end off the session (and the bootcamp!), we’ll wrap up everything and provide some final words of advice/encouragement.
