About the Tutor
Hello! I'm a high school sophomore from California with a passion for mathematics and sciences! I'm currently tutoring mathematics. I'm currently learning Integrated Math III (Algebra II).
Expectations, dates, info, and my plans for the series.
Factors and multiples
We'll get all into prime/composite numbers, factors, and multiples! No prior experience is needed other than basic multiplication skills and an understanding of multiplications. Everyone is welcome to join! I recommend bring a piece of paper, a pencil, and an eraser to this session!
We will cover Patterns in Pre-Algebra level math. We will cover what a pattern is and the rules regarding patterns. We will cover how you can graph patterns. Please bring a pencil, eraser, and paper for notes and math problems. All math levels are welcome to join!
We will cover everything about percentages from scratch! All experience levels are welcome to join. I recommend you join this session with some basic knowledge on fractions and decimals and how you convert from fractions to decimals or the other way around. I recommend bringing any paper, a pencil, and an eraser to take notes and do questions. Bring your questions that you are having trouble with!
Exponents intro and order of operations
We'll learn the basics of exponents. We'll also cover order of operations. We'll take a look at some practice questions. All levels of experience in exponents/order of operations are welcome. We will not cover negative powers, fractional powers, and we will only cover whole number bases. Bring your own questions that you are having trouble with to the session!
Variables & expressions
We will introduce variables and expressions. I recommend knowing order of operations before attending this session. But everyone is welcome to join! I recommend having any paper, a pencil, and an eraser!
We will be covering the definition of multi-step equations with examples and how to solve them. We will be getting into complex forms of them. Be sure to bring a pencil, eraser, and paper to solve along and take notes. All math levels are welcome to join.
Functions and linear models
We will introduce functions & linear models. I recommend knowing order of operations before attending this session. But everyone is welcome to join! I recommend having any paper, a pencil, and an eraser!
Systems of equations
We'll learn about systems of equations with lines. We'll take a look at some practice questions. It is recommended to have experience in lines and the different forms of line equations but people from all levels of experience are welcome to join. We will not cover systems of equations with parabolas, cubics, absolute values, and other radical functions. Bring your own questions that you are having trouble with to the session! I personally recommend that you have graph paper, pencil, and an eraser with you. Calculators are not needed as the material we will cover includes basic arithmetic math.
We will review the concepts above and take a sort of final test and test the lessons covered previously. You will receive 45 minutes to complete 14 questions (7 multiple-choice + 7 written). The first 15 minutes will be review of any concepts we want to review then we will get straight into the test (if we are done with review early, the additional time can be spent on the assessment). If we have extra time left, we will have some fun with some math games like Gimkit, Kahoot, etc.
