About

We'll go through the most important concepts of pre-algebra while becoming more confident in our math skills! This entire course will utilize materials from Khan Academy so learners can practice material after class and come with questions! The topics we will cover include: - Ratios and rates: We'll dive deep on understanding how to simplify ratios to arrive at a unit rate and applying ratios to real word problems. - PEMDAS/BODMAS: We'll review the idea of order of operations and introduce exponents on whole numbers, negative numbers, and fractions! - Equations/Inequalities: We'll practice working with like terms, performing operations to both sides of an equation or inequality, and isolating the variable. - Multi-step equations: We'll expand on what we covered previously and incorporate equations of slightly more difficulty that require multiple steps! - Two-variable equations: We'll walk through the concept of slope and representing linear equations with two variables using slope-intercept form! - Functions and linear models: We'll recap two-variable equations and see how we can apply it to real world problems by drawing linear functions! - Systems of equations: We'll answer the question, "How do we determine the value of two variables from two equations?" by covering substitution and graphing methods. I'm very excited to work with you and look forward to working with you in this series :))

Hi there! I’m a high school freshman from Massachusetts who loves learning new things and sharing my knowledge with others. I can help you with Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1, as well as some fun extra-curricular topics like calligraphy, writing, debating, blog-writing, and more. Whether you need help with homework, want to improve your skills, or just want to explore something new, I’m here for you! In my free time, I enjoy running, biking, spending time outdoors, playing soccer, and hanging out with my friends. I’m looking forward to meeting you and learning together!
