About
This course is designed specifically for students planning to take the ACT test and want to work on the math skills they need for it. However, students who need to revise some topics for school or are planning to take the SAT can also benefit from the course. Over the next three months, we will meet weekly to discuss all of the important math concepts and strategies you need to do well on the ACT. In every session, we will tackle a few topics. We will revise them and solve some practice questions. I will also be taking any math questions you might have throughout the session. I plan to adapt the course and the time allocated to each topic based on the needs of the students.
Some resources that I will use*: The Ultimate Guide to ACT Math, The Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023, 500 ACT Math Questions to Know by Test Day, 3rd Edition.
(This list is subject to change as I get to learn what the students need more of.)
P.S I have only added the first two sessions, but will be adding all other session during the coming week or two.
Tutor Qualifications
I got a 36 on the math ACT section in July of 2022. I have a GPA of 4.0 in pre-algebra, algebra one, and geometry. I also started taking algebra 2 at the end of last year and am doing well in it. I am certified in geometry, pre-algebra, and algebra one. I am also certified or seeking certification in any other relevant math topics.
(I also used/use the courses of Princeton Review, Prepscholar, and Kaplan in preparing for ACT math, in addition to books like the Ultimate Guide to ACT Math, so I have a comprehensive understanding of all the topics that should be covered.)
✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attending all or almost all of the sessions is highly recommended, especially if you plan to depend on our sessions as the main resource in supplementing your ACT preparation You are, however, free to skip any sessions you don't want to attend or join only on sessions where we discuss the topics that you struggle with the most.

About the Tutor
I attend an international high school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I enjoy math and biology. It would make me happy if I could help others.
Upcoming Sessions
Past Sessions
Session 1
Even More Math
PRE-ALGEBRA
In this session, we will try to revise all pre-algebra concepts that you will need for the ACT including integers, fractions, order of operations, averages, and percentages.
Session 2
Even More Math
ALGEBRA I
The general plan is to discuss algebra 1 topics during this week and the ones following it. As I previously mentioned my plan is flexible and I hope to adapt it to meet my students' needs. For example, we might be able to go through Algebra I faster if they all seem strong in its topics. On the other hand, if I notice that the students need to spend more time on Algebra I, we might continue it in our fifth session or I might add another session between the ones already scheduled.
The topics I plan to cover:
- solving linear equations
- solving inequalities
- solving systems of linear equations
Session 3
Even More Math
ALGEBRA I
If there is anything that we couldn't cover from algebra one in the previous session, we will finish that first. We will then discuss root, distributing, common factors, FOILing, and factoring. We will revise those concepts, which many students might be already familiar with, and I will take questions throughout the session. We will also do ACT-style practice questions on each of the topics.
Session 4
Even More Math
ALGEBRA I + GEOMETRY
The only topic left to discuss from algebra one is ratios. After finishing that, we will start with geometry. We will discuss geometry over three sessions with this being the first one. The ideas we will discuss in this session are
- angles and lines
- triangles
Session 5
Even More Math
GEOMETRY
In this session, we will discuss all the details you might need to know about circles and polygons to do well in the ACT test. As always, we will do practice questions on the concepts discussed, and I encourage you to ask questions anytime during the session.
Session 6
Even More Math
GEOMETRY
As I had mentioned in the course deception, this course is meant to be flexible, I plan to modify it according to the needs of the students. Because we had some of the concepts took a little more time than I anticipated, I am dedicating this session to covering circles and polygons (which according to the original description should have been covered in the previous lesson),
Let me know if the fact that the course ends a little later poses any problems for you, and I can work with you to find a solution.
Session 7
Even More Math
GEOMETRY
In our third and final session about geometry, we will discuss the important ideas related to solids, slopes, distance on the coordinate plane, and midpoints.
Session 8
Even More Math
Algebra II
This is our first session in algebra two. The topics I plan to cover in this session are sequences, exponents, and radicals.
Many students might not have had the chance to learn the topics in algebra two before, or they might have had a lot of experience with them. As a result, the topics might take longer than expected to cover. I tried to not put many ideas in one session and in most algebra two topics, the ACT does not require very thorough knowledge. However, if need be, I might keep some topics for the next session or add sessions to cover the topics. Again, the course is relatively flexible and I plan to modify it according to the participants' needs.
Session 9
Even More Math
ALGEBRA II
We will discuss absolute values and their equations and inequalities. We will also discuss quadratic equations and the translations and reflections of functions.
Session 10
Even More Math
ALGEBRA II
In this session, we will continue discussing functions. We will also discuss logarithms and matrices.
Session 11
Even More Math
Miscellaneous Topics
In this session and the next one, we will discuss a variety of different topics that are needed on the ACT. In this session, we will discuss complex numbers and polynomial division. We will also start with an introduction to probability. We will continue discussing probability next week.
Session 12
Even More Math
Miscellaneous Topics
In this session, we will continue discussing probability, which we started with last week. We will then discuss our final topic which is trigonometry. We will solve ACT-style practice questions related to both.
Session 13
Review
Great work! You have reached the end of this series.
To wrap things up, we will have a brief review of the different topics and ideas students need to know to do well in the math section of the ACT test along with practice questions about different topics. We will have a Q&A session, and, finally, I will discuss some strategies that can be helpful on test day. These strategies come from both personal experience and what works for some people from what I have heard and/or read.
Session 14
Even More Math
We will finish what's left of Algebra 2 and talk about counting and probability.
Session 15
Even More Math
We ran a little late during this course so this and the next two sessions are discussing topics that according to the course description should have been discussed earlier. We will discuss topics like sets, probability, and statistics.
Session 16
Even More Math
We will continue discussing some miscellaneous topics, like statistics (mean, mode, and median) and word problems.
Session 17
Even More Math
We will finish all material today. We will discuss some miscellaneous topics like the trigonometry you need to know for the ACT and word problems.
