About

Hello! My name is Eterath.
I am passionate about history and enjoy exploring how events of the past have shaped the world today. In this series of classes, I will help you discover and understand the contemporary history of Spain and Europe from different perspectives, mainly from the Spanish one, mine.

During our sessions, we will work together on historical periods of my or your choosing and answer your questions about key events. The dynamic will be interactive and I will make sure everyone participates! If all attendees are Spanish speakers, we can hold the class in Spanish so that you feel more comfortable.

Join this space to learn, debate and connect with others interested in history. Bring your doubts and curiosity, and let's work together to expand your historical knowledge!

Note: I recommend having the cameras on to encourage a closer environment, but if you can't turn it on for any reason, please let me know in advance.

Hi! I'm a Spanish student of 1º Bachillerato, the equivalent to 11th grade in the USA, in the itinerary of Health Science, and I'm here to prepare myself for the SAT, which doesn't exist in my country but i'll need it in my future. Anyways, I am doing really good in high school and I've done lots of activities and achieved lots of my goals, the one I'm most proud about is being a member of the European Youth Parliament. In my free time, I volunteer with children and eldery, I paint and draw, write poetry and dance!

In this session, we’ll focus on the result of the Colonization of the Americas by "Cristóbal Colón" in 1492. We will also talk about the influence of the Spaniards, their culture, language and religion on the indigenous people and the existing empires in America at that moment.

I will also try to cover all the modern aspects that still occur today that come as a result of colonization in these territories, such as, for example, the continued use of the Spanish language in these territories that caused them to lose their native language. We will delve into:

- The societal and cultural changes that emerged in the aftermath of colonization.
- The establishment of colonial hierarchies and their long-term effects on indigenous populations, mestizos, and criollos.
- The economic impacts of resource extraction, such as silver mining, and the influence of the Spanish encomienda and hacienda systems.
- The rise of independence movements across Latin America and the lasting legacies of Spanish rule.

This interactive session will include a mix of storytelling, discussions, and insights into different perspectives. We MIGHT play a Kahoot, so come ready for it, please!
