Want to get into the world of debate? Interested in improving your persuasion and writing skills? Then you've come to the right place! In this series we will be covering the basics of Public Forum debate (the most popular form of competitive high school debate in the world). We'll go over the format of a Public Forum debate round, as well as break down each of its speeches and discuss strategies. By the time this series ends, you'll be ready to dive into debate tournaments first thing this fall!

We will have an orientation to get to know each other. Afterwards, we will go over what Public Forum is and the format of a debate round. We will also review debate jargon and strategies for constructive and rebuttal speeches.

We will review strategies for summary and final focus speeches, as well as weighing.

We will go over judge adaptation and flowing. Then, we will discuss strategies for cross examination. We will also cover overall debate strategies and methods for improving our speaking skills. Finally, we will wrap-up with some tips for the debate season.
